1966 CORVETTE CONVERTIBLE CUSTOM....BRILLANT RED PAINT....4 SPEED

SHORT DISCRIPTION: For your consideration I'm selling a good looking 1966 Corvette convertible "very customized". If you are a purist this won't be for you. if you like old school customs you may like it. Many years ago the car had a custom fiber glass kit installed. a local man called it a Shark Bite Kit. The installer did a good job. I see no cracks or seams where it was installed. This is the type of thing done back in the 1970s and it cost a ton of money to do. It consist of a nose bite kit that sort of looks like a sharks mount biting. wider fender flares for larger tires. a custom rear end and of course it has the hood stinger that looks like a 1967 to me. The paint is nice driver quality. (brilliant shine with minor flaws under a critical eye). he interior is not brand new. but good. the 305 cubic engine is not matching. but runs strong and sweet. the 4 speed manual transmission shifts good. the convertible top is in usable condition. the window fits the top bad. but roll up and down good. The brakes are 4 wheel disc. the wheels are Boss 20 inch on the rear and 18 inch on the front. The car looks good. runs good. drives good for a Corvette. but its no 100 point show car. "to me its a very nice driver".

VIN: 194676S115914 and the VIN plate matches the title. I have a hard clear title in hand.

MIEAGE: Mileage is exempt by age and who really knows. The odometer says 1 thing and the title another. your title will say exempt by age. cars over 10 years old are exempt.

TITLE: Clear title in hand.

HISTORY: We bought the car from a friend near Cincinnati. the title states last state of registration Tennessee. The car lived here in Tennessee just north of me in Dolly Parton's home of Sevierville. Tennessee .

We are located in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in east Tennessee. I am 67 years old and work with my son Keith who is now 41. I am now retired and living my dream restoring. selling and improving classic cars. For 12 years I was an auto mechanics instructor at TennesseeTechnologyCenter here in Athens. I am also a veteran of the US Army; I served as a Chinook helicopter mechanic. crew chief and instructor in the late 60s. IS THERE ANY RUST PROBLEMS?    The underside looks good. but not sanded smooth and detailed for show.  The frame. supports and bottom panels all look very good to me. The car has some rusty color metal. but no problems.

IS THERE ANY ACCIDENT DAMAGE?  None that I can find and the title states none.

WHY AM I SELLING THIS CAR?     I'm a retired mechanic/auto-mechanic instructor/was a Army helicopter mechanic and instructor. When I find a truck or car I like for a good price I buy it fix things and resell for a fair profit. I did not restore this car. I just fixed a few things.

IS THIS A MATCHING NUMBERS CAR? No. but the engine is a perfect fit!

 PAINT:     The paint has a brilliant shine. no dents. no dings. and no big cracks in the fiberglass where the kit was install. the body is straight. There are some small touched up chips and a couple of touched up scratches and some very minor flaws if you look for them. but the paint is nice. Its not a perfect $25. 00 paint job. it just good looking. you have to look with a critical eye to see a defect.

CHROME:      The chrome and bright work are nice.

INTERIOR:   No smoke smell. the seats are leather and have the normal super fine cracks and a little stiff from age. but still look good and very usable. Dash is good. door panels good. carpet has 2 golf ball size worn places under the mats.

RADIO: Original. it comes on and plays. but its weak and not very good.

UNSERSIDE:    Solid. but not painted shinny to put mirrors under at the car show.

GLASS:    The side glasses roll up and down decent and fit the convertible top junky. the windshield does have a faint wiper mark.

CONVERTIBLE TOP: Its very nice used condition. the plastic rear window is dull. I think it goes up and down good. its not power. It fits the windows bad and I cannot adjust it out. Its just the way old convertibles are.

ENGINE:    Engine runs very good with no knocks or pings and no blue smoke.   The engine is a 305 cubic inch that runs good. the casting numbers are 460777. Its a good engine and it has enough power.

EXHAUST SYSTEM:  Good used condition.

TRANSMISSION:   Its a good shifting 4 speed manual. the clutch is smooth and does not slip. the shifter shifts good.

REAR-END:     It has no bearing noises. no growls. its a good highway gearing.

BRAKES:  Original disc in the front and added disc in the rear.

STEERING:   The cars drives very good. it is not power steering.

WHEELS AND TIRES:      Boss wheels. 225/14/18 on front and 265/35/20 on the rear. that's 18 inch front and 20 inch rear.

LIGHTS:     They work. turn signals work. headlights work. tail lights work. brake lights work.

GUAGES:   Gas gauge works as well as oil and temp.

WIPERS WORK! Horn not working! SPEEDOMETER WORKS! Tachometer works!

HOW DO THE DOORS AND HOOD OPEN AND CLOSE and panel fit?    I think the doors fit and open very good. the hood and trunk fit good for the year.

WOULD I DRIVE THE CAR HOME ON A LONG TRIP: I never recommend driving a old car home. I just test drive them and drive them some around town. but I do think this car would drive anywhere.

DID I RESTORE THIS CAR? No! We only fixed a few things. wipers. tach. a couple of lights and put a new heater core in. "the heater core was a bad job. Hard!"

WHY DON'T I FIX EVERYTHING: It runs the cost up and I have too many projects started.

I understand how hard it is to buy a car without looking. but I think you should come look yourself.   I don't like paid inspectors. I like for the person that is buying to inspect for themselves.
