It is with a heavy heart I am placing my bmw e30 325i sport up for sale. I have owned it since 2007 and completed a comprehensive and very expensive restoration on it around 6 years ago. we took it right back to a shell. I have only covered 1019 miles since. The car looks standard apart from the wheels and very slightly lower stance. however has had many improvements.

Reason for selling.

When I started the restoration I had a well paid job. no children and weekends to myself. now I am supporting a wife and 2 kids under 5. working all hours. I have a van for everyday and ferry the family about in a Volvo at weekends. I never get chance to use it. and not likely to for some time. I also have two old motorbikes in the garage that have seen about 200 miles this year! I'm sad to say that if ever get an hour or 2 to myself I'm just happy to have a sit down!!! Oh how life has changed!! Although I'm still very fond of the BMW I cant afford to tax and insure another vehicle and I have sadly got to the point where I would rather have my garage back and use the money to get something better for everyday use.

325i sport Spec as standard:

Engine rebuilt to following specifications:

New bearings. pistons. camshaft. seals and more.

Now a 2. 7 stroker

Lightened and balanced bottom end

Early 2. 5 high compression pistons Genuine Bmw Mahle

Skimmed and ported head. matched manifolds and gaskets.

6 branch stainless steel manifold from fritz bits.

Schrick fast road cam

Vernier pulley

k&n filter

Modified throttle body

Heat wrapped manifold

2. 7 chip from a tech

Full stainless steel scorpion exhaust system. currently running with a new standard centre silencer (It was a bit load for me. getting old!)

Almost everything shot blasted. painted. powder coated or stainless steel under the bonnet!

Obviously the car was fully serviced and transmission oils replaced at rebuild.

Engine sounds very nice and ticks over very evenly due to not having a crazy camshaft. Has the added torque of the longer stroke that I felt was lacking with the standard 2. 5 unit. revs freely and pulls very well. I guess its only just starting to break in after 1000 miles.

I didn't go far from standard on the compression ratio as I wanted reliability but this could be increased and would add quite a bit more power if required or could probably be turbo charged at the current compression ratio?

I'm guessing its putting out somewhere between 200-230bhp it is very quick to 60mph!

 

Gearbox and diff:

Gearbox standard sport close ratio box not rebuilt but with brand new luk clutch kit and top notch gear oil.

Limited slip differential. standard not rebuilt just new synthetic oil.

 

Wheel and suspension urgrades:

Eibach springs approx 20-25 lower

Bilstein shocks b8's

17” alpina replica wheels brand new and I had the inside lacquered to make cleaning easy.

Good Yokahama Parada tyres.

Also a set of the original 15” bbs alloy wheels approx 6 or 7 they have been shot blasted ready for paint. Also a set of correct size almost new 205/55/15 Michelin tyres for the above.

The car has been powerflex polyurethane bushed excluding the front wishbones rears (I removed them as I lost a lot of feel oddly!)

 

 

 

 

Audio upgrades:

All hidden as much as possible.

Alpine cd105ri head unit second from top of the range around 5 years ago

2x alpine v12 amps

12” infinity subwoofer hidden in a custom made enclosure so you can still get pushchairs in the boot! lol

Infinity component speakers in the front in original places

Infinitys speakers in the parcel shelf (original size)

All gold plated oxygen free cables

Bt interface for hands free phone etc

Boot and floor of the car has been fitted with sound deadening

Power cap etc

 

General uprgrades:

Hid headlights.

Leather re-trim

Good quality front strut brace.

Viper 480 alarm system with remote locking and proximity sensor etc it has a little mobile phone pager type thingy that tells you if someone is stood next to it. Thatcham cat 1 with certificate.

 

Brakes:

New discs all round (brembo from memory) new pads. new handbrake shoes and fittings including hand brake cables.

New brake pipes made and new flexi hoses.

Calipers were reconditioned and powder coated.

Additional new parts not mentioned. (new or brand new meaning new 1019 miles ago)

So many new parts I cant remember but as you can imagine I have a very large pile of invoices!!!!!!!

Body:

Has had a small amount of welding but chose a car with a good body in the first place. wheel arches and rear box sections original and lots of photos of any work completed.

Full 2pack respray in the original diamond black including all shuts engine bay and boot floor.

Sound deadening inside.

All new clips fitted on rebuild.

Underside totally treated and undersealed and lots of waxoyl.

First mot after rebuild

16/11/09 first mot after rebuild (no advisories)

04/01/11 990 miles (no advisories)

02/03/13 14 miles (no advisories)

And another 15 miles as of today.

Total of 1. 19 miles just over 4 years!

Spare parts:

I have a very large stock of spare parts that can go with the car for the right price.

Also have the scorpion centre silencer.

Bad points

 

 

The exhaust manifold very slightly rubs the steering column under maximum cornering. requires small relief in manifold.

The 17” wheels occasionally rub on the rear when going over big bumps.

The heater fan resistor has started to play up since sat. only works on no 4 setting.

Air con will need gassing.

I don't want to put anybody off but if I cant get a reasonable amount of money back on it I will put it in long term storage as they are steadily going up in money. I have spent a huge amount of money on this!! I know I will only get a percentage of this back and my labour written off but please don't insult me!

Obviously the car is not taxed or insured so test drives will not be permissible. but once a serious buyer is found and a price agreed we can arrange a drive before payment.

I have the cuurent v5c and it is still moted till march 2014 but was last taxed in 2010

A huge pile of invoices!!!

If you have got this far you are clearly interested but. I had another one of these before this one around 2005/6 and it was a very unpleasant experience selling it! For some reason the e30 seems to attract a lot of timewasters dreamers and people who do not do business like I do. I. e people turning up at 12pm at night 4 hours late to look at the car! Yes I know. looking at the car. bidding then haggling again when turning up! Offering me a ridiculous amount! Not showing Etc etc I would be glad to chat to anybody who is a serious buyer and will not do any sort of a deal until the car has been inspected. This car will not be sold for peanuts I am looking to get back around half the cost of the restoration. It will be up for sale for a couple of weeks and if it hasn't been sold I will be putting it into storage as a future investment . I will ignore unreasonable offers. Sorry for the rant but I am a man of my word and straight as a die I don't like bulls**t and being messed about.

The car is in a lit garage and can be viewed evenings and some weekends.

I'm struggling to value this car as you can probably imagine it's a hard one! I estimate the whole project cost me in excess of 20k plus 1000's hours and I'm putting it out there to see where I get . I sort of have a figure in mind that I would let it go for but others may disagree. try me. I have set the reserve high initially to test the water but may lower towards the end. Please view before bidding.
