The history of this revolutionary motorcar is well known and its
impact socially. culturally and mechanically is well documented.
The Swinging Sixties. The Beatles. Twiggy and the Mini are
inexorably combined to represent an era that is remembered with
great fondness by many people. The side story is the Mini's impact
on motorsport and this is no less extraordinary. Issigonis' friend
John Cooper. owner of the Cooper Car Company and designer and
builder of Formula One and rally cars. saw the potential of the
Mini for competition. The original 848cc engine was given a longer
stroke to increase capacity to 997cc. boosting power from 34bhp to
55bhp. The car featured a racing-tuned engine. twin SU
carburettors. a closer-ratio gearbox and front disc brakes;
uncommon at the time in a small car. A more powerful Mini Cooper. br/>dubbed the 'S' and featuring a 1071cc engine was then developed in
tandem and released in 1963. The Mini Cooper S earned acclaim with
Monte Carlo Rally victories in 1964. 1965 and 1967. Huge demand was
also generated on the club scene and. quite rightly. continues
today.

This two owner car. with the first having owned and used the car
sparingly from its purchase in 1963 until March 2013. is in
completely original condition and boasts remarkably low warranted
mileage. The large catalogue of bills. receipts. old MoT test
certificates and service history is testament to the care and
attention taken during its ownership with the current vendor having
only dry-stored the car. Presented in Smoke Grey with blue trim and
with the original tool kit. sales invoice and owner's manual. this
car drives extremely well and has all the charm and character that
a 60's Mini should have. Offered with an MoT road test certificate
until December 2014 and a full year's road fund licence. this is
truly a blast from the past and with such good history and low
mileage. a great opportunity to own part of British motoring
history.
