1965 Ford Anglia 105e Zetec . Bodywork in excellent condition. sprayed a couple of years ago. nicely detailed engine bay. good boot area. very good boot & bonnet lids. doors and sills. Front & rear bubble arches fitted. blended in. rigid. no distortion or stress cracks . 13 inch Minilite wheels. 8 inch wide front and massive 9 inch wide rears. Rally replica look with Ford side stripes. door roundals. set of 4 spot lamps and rear reversing lamp.
Interior continues the theme with Recarro front seats recovered with blue fabric. These are mounted on slide rails. with head restraints. adjustable backs and the nice. pull out thigh support panel. 4 point harnesses. sports steering wheel. centrally mounted  0-8. 00 rpm Tacho. nbsp;with set of oil pressure. water temp & fuel gauges in a triple binnacle. Good headlining. twin sun-visors. original Anglia speedo and lockable glove box.  Carbon look door cards. nbsp;chromed handles & winders. no rear seat currently fitted but all fixings intact; the rear floor & fire wall are felt covered to reduce noise.
Engine is 2 ltr Zetec 16 v "black top" from a 2000 year Ford Mondeo. Stripped & rebuilt with low mileage pistons & rods. reconditioned cylinder head. new mains & big ends. new water pump. new cam belt. crank seals and gaskets. Zetec engine conversion parts supplied by Retro Ford of Corby including cast alloy front bowl finned sump. alternator mounting kit with idler pulley. new alternator. new starter motor. coil mounting bracket and custom engine mountings. braced out onto the chassis rails.
Engine cooling is handled by a new modified Capri radiator with 12 inch electric fan which is automatically controlled. A Raceline water rail with thermostat. Silicon hoses and stainless steel cross pipe connect the engine to the radiator and water pump.  There is no cabin heater fitted but the necessary connections are available.
The engine fueling is taken care of by an electric pump with pressure regulator. feeding petrol into the cylinders through 38 mm choke flat slide Mikuni carburettors and an alloy swept inlet manifold. The units have manual choke control for cold starting and a domed Piper X air filter. these 'bike carbs are renowned for their smooth idle. fast response and  good fuel efficiency.   Ignition is accurately controlled from a programmable "Nodiz" ECU which automatically advances the ignition and fires the relevant cylinder according to engine speed and load. this arrangement retains the Mondeo coil pack and plug leads and is reliable and neat.
The engine was Rolling Road set up and produced 155 bhp at 6. 00 rpm. From experience. these engines can easily be tuned to give 195 bhp while remaining reliable and driveable.
A 5 speed type 9 gearbox. with new clutch. lightweight flywheel. cable operated clutch and new balanced propshaft transmits the power to the rear axle. For relaxed cruising. the Anglia has been fitted with a 3. 77 ratio diff ;  the axle is mounted on multi leaf springs with 2 inch lowering blocks and modern telescopic dampers. nbsp;spring pin bushes are hard wearing polyurethane.
The Anglia front suspension and steering has been modified from the original ; the steering box was discarded and front coil springs replaced with Capri front struts which have been rebuilt with new internal dampers and roller top mounts. Adjustable track control arms. an Escort steering rack & mountings and new track rod ends have been fitted and the steering is quite light considering the front tyre footprint. The front suspension and steering geometry was professionally checked and accurately realigned.
New brakes and piping have been installed throughout. these include a  0. 75 inch Willwood master cylinder with integral fluid reservoir. RS 2000 front brake callipers. discs & pads and a rear disc brake conversion using Sierra callipers & discs. Stainless steel braided hoses complete the job and although there is no servo the brakes are powerfull and well balanced with a firm pedal and no fade.
The electrics received detailed attention. A brand new wiring loom was specified. incorporating modern relays and fuses and indicators. New headlamp bowls. Halogen headlights with seperate side lights. an automatic reversing light circuit and main beam relay with selector overide switch to energise the front spot lamps.  The tacho and supplementary gauges are all back lit. very easy to read and accurately calibrated.  The original style key operated ignition switch. pull & twist light switch. wiper switch and cig. lighter socket are retained. with electric windscreen washers. Since the steering column is Mk1 Escort. a convenient multifunction stalk controls indicators. main / dip headlights and the horn.
The boot lid is a lightweight GRP panel. with internal ribs for stiffness. it has a support stay and traditional handle & lock. The fuel tank cell is secured in the boot and occupies the area where the original spare wheel would be stowed. it is approx 7 gallons capacity and fitted with a sight glass and screw filling cap. There is also a level gauge which indicates accurately on the dash mounted gauge. Within the boot are also the battery. isolator switch and Facet pump which feeds fuel forwards to the carburettors.
The exhaust gases are fed away from the engine using an Ashley 4-2-1 swept manifold. this couples to a 2. 25 inch exhaust system with twin silencer boxes. terminating with a chromed tail pipe. The system runs close to the Anglias' floor & over the rear axle. giving good ground clearance.
Externally the bodywork is excellent and the 2 pack paint finish very good. The front headlight cowls have been painted body colour. while the rear bumper and rear screen trim are black. The chrome on the rear lights and around the front windscreen isn't perfect but after 50 years. nbsp;that is to be expected. A new front laminated windscreen was fitted 6 months ago. together with new front & rear window rubbers and door surround seals. the rear quarter light windows are hinged as are the front 1/4 lights providing good ventilation.
The Minilite alloy wheels are in good condition 8 inch x 13 front with 215/50/13 tyres and 9 inch x 13 rear with 235/50/13 tyres.
Underneath. the car is in excellent order. there are no corroded or rusty areas. For protction. the floor pans. sills and wheel arches have been sprayed with 3M Schultz. a well know underseal and semi flexible coating.
This car has covered many road miles since its completion. It is eye catching. reliable. drives and stops very well and will appreciate in value as these older Classics with modern running gear become accepted as regular. exciting transport.
To buy a standard 105e. modify the running gear. arch & restore the bodwork and carry out a Zetec engine conversion. would cost thousands. so please don't make any low offers.   The upgrade and conversion of this Anglia has been detailed and thorough. using proven parts and quality components; we have built a unique vehicle which will be a pleasure to own and drive for years to come.
