1958 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight 4 door pillarless sedan RARE!

First off. I have to say that I am priviledged to be listing 4 beautiful 1950's American cars on behalf of the family and estate of the late Iain Kilpatrick. I ask you to please read the whole listing before asking any questions. and I also ask that you only ask for more pictures by e-mail if you are genuinely interested. and then I ask you to be respectful in any offer you may make. I would much prefer that you make an appointment to come and view the car/s you are interested in as I have not done an in depth assesment and can only tell what I see form a walk around. Any offers made have to be agreed by the family and lawyer before we can proceed further.

Please note that I already have offers of trades on some of these!!! I AM SELLING ON BEHALF OF A FAMILY ESTATE. THEY WANT THE CARS SOLD. THEY DO NOT WANT A SWAP!!! OR PART-EX. should be easy to work that out. but hey. it is now in print to save any more useless offers.

I stress once again. that these are not my cars. I have no financial stake in them. I am simply liquidating them on behalf of the family. It is up to you to have an inspection done if you so desire. The cars are sold "as-is" or "sold as seen" and myself or my business takes no responsibility for anything to do with them.

The four cars to be offered are: 1957 Cadillac Fleetwood in magenta (ish) metallic. 1957 Buick Special 2 door (stunning in blue). 1958 Buick Special 2 door pillarless hardtop in yellow. and a 1958 Oldsmobile 88 four door pillarless sedan in black. All will be listed separately on Ebay.

Okay. the legal bit out of the way. this listing is for a lovely and rare 1958 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight 4 door pillarless sedan. fitted with the Rocket V8 at 371 cu in. and column shift auto. Graham drove this from the owner's home to our base and said it drove and handled really well. We have not done a full inspection on this or any of the others. all we have done is collect the car. drive it to base. clean and polish it and do a walk round.

So: mileage is unlikely to be correct at 37561. Speedo is currently working. Iain imported this car August 2006 and in that time it has covered 5692 miles. This one comes with the ORIGINAL warranty made out from dealer Mark Markowitz Inc of Hempstead. nbsp;New York to Herman Laibach of Franklin Square. New York on 26th June 1958. Also in the glove box was the original service policy/owners handbook.

The bodywork is really straight and the paint is older but still presents very well with only minor chips. etc. The chrome and stainless is driver quality on this one. still nice and bright for the most part but the rear light surrounds and rear bumper have pits and dulling due to age. It is all good and straight however if you wanted to re-chrome it. but personally I think it shows it's character as it is. and is by no means horrible. I did feel that the right rear floor pan is weak. so that may require attention. If this will be an issue for you. I can quote separately to do this job before delivery. In the pictures you will see that this one hasn't been cleaned properly yet as we need to t-cut the bonnet and some other parts due to old fly squash. and als that three of the letters are missing from the hood. The three letters are there and will be refitted. I just needed to get the pics taken to get the listings done.

Wheels are standard 14" steels with excellent set of trims all round. rear tyres excellent. fronts have some wear. Under the hood is clean and tidy. it has an alternator conversion and a lovely period style battery. It starts. runs and drives just fine. has a single exhaust that seems just a bit too quiet for a V8. but that's just me!

Electrics as follows: all sidelights. headlights. main beam. indicators. all work as they should including the "tell tales" in the dash. Reversing lights and heater motor don't seem to be working. wipers are still vaccuum and work incredibly well. can't seem to get the washers to work. Interior light working. horn works. dash lights work as do all gauges.  Factory stock original radio is working.

All the glass is really good. no cracks. just some minor bubbling here and there. All windows are manually operated and all work just as they should. The car looks stunning with the windows down for that superb pillarless look.

The interior on this is still totally original. right down to the rubber floor covering. It is in outstanding condition with just some wear to the driver backrest which can be seen in the pics and some light marks to the headcloth.

So. that's all I know about the car. I did lie down and have a quick look under and it looks very clean and solid from what I could see. Like I said. best if you come and see as this is not the project pickups I sell for my business which usually sell on description and sell unseen. This is a much more expensive car and really needs viewing. This car looks to be totally original apart from a repaint many many years ago. A "survivor" and very correct. and these are few and far between. much rarer than a Chevy. Buick. or Cadillac from the same year.

This is all we know about the car.
