Ford Escort Mk1 1300E

It is with sadness that I offer the Mk1 Escort 1300E. that I have owned since 2000. for sale.

1974 so Tax Exempted from April this year! Loads of paperwork and copies of each change of ownership back to the original sales receipt. Ive been told that this car was made at the AVO plant as well. The car has had a reconditioned engine and gearbox.

The original 1300GT engine with twin choke carb is still in the car but the head has been replaced with one that had been converted to run on unleaded fuel. Too many new engine parts to list.

The front suspension has been upgraded to new Bilstien 2. 8i Capri fully adjustable uprights and rose joined top plates. The original suspension comes with the car however. The front brakes have been upgraded to vented discs with 4pot callipers with new seals and pistons. The rear brakes have been replaced with new parts. Along with new copper lines where needed.

4 brand new tyres fitted in the summer.

Brand new or reconditioned lights and seals fitted all round plus all the chrome work is in very good condition.

Security locks have been fitted all round.

The interior is the shark grey half leather Recaros from the 2. 8i Capri along with custom trimmed door cards to match. New head lining fitted. The ‘E' wood kit and 6 clock dash have been professionally restored with Walnut Veneer.

Inside also is the rare centre console fitted to some Mk1's along with the 1300E glovebox. Inside the car is a Kenwood CD player that is discussed as an ashtray. but it has not been wired in yet.

The bodywork is in Excellent condition with welding work being carried out by a restoration professional at considerable expense.

Welding work comprised of: New front Mexico wings New front valance and slam panel New sills New rear internal arches The engine bay. boot and inside of the car have has been sprayed in an equivalent match for the original ‘Purple Velvet' colour in 2pac paint. The exterior is still in Primer. hence the yellow/different coulours. The roof has been vinyl wrapped.

Lots of spares including a brand new fast road cam.

So that is the good. now for the not so good. The jobs that still need doing are: -

- Brake servo sounds like it needs replacing and the brakes need to be bled.

- Finish hooking up the electrics

- Hook up last engine ancillaries and fire it up

- Tune the carb up and get it running sweet

- Set up the front suspension to how you like

- The car is not currently running so will need to be taken away on a trailer.

Unfortunately I do not have the time for the last push. but with a week or so's work this car could be down the MOT centre and driving in time for the Spring! (something I really want to see happen to the car now for the new owner).

Otherwise this car is already half way there for turning into a track car. or could easily be put back to original. Have been asked to split the number plate from the car before (BOOM!) but it will be sold with the car to keep it original.
