Well. very reluctantly. I am having to say goodbye to "Harvey" the RB
Due to a change in circumstances I am having to sell the RB44 and I really don't want to but I've been told !
When I got Harvey about 18m ago there were some bits missing. rear brakes stuck and bits just generally not working. but it was in great general condition. very clean inside and obviously had been much better looked after than many of the other RB44 basket cases with no rust holes evident in the cab.
It was literally the best of the bunch that I had seen at four or five auctions with about 20 at each auction.
It had also been regularly used up until decommission which many had not. The oils and liquids are/have been clean and fresh and the coolant full of antifreeze
The starter is a bit slow (on one battery only) but it starts first time every time and there's no dodgy knocking or smoke or anything from the engine.
It's got 5x nearly new Michelin XZL tyres that are probably worth over a grand on their own
I bought it as a chassis-cab as the fire-engine (search images for RB44 first strike) back body had been removed. which was ideal as I had something else in mind. As a fire engine it would have been driven round regularly keeping the moving bits in good condition. but the mileage is negligible - barely run in the Phaser 110T Diesel engine!
I'm sure the pretty rigid chassis would make an ideal;
overland camperforestry / logging vehiclearborists truckwinch truck4x4 offroader
or indeed fire-engine (again)
Since acquisition I have;
Freed the brakes offReplaced the master cyl (one nut still needs tightening but my hands are too big!)Fixed the seal on the engine cover (using F1 composite glue - so it shouldn't fall off)
Replaced the switchgear and steering column cowlingObtained but not fitted the indicator flasher unit
I do have the MoD official release certificate for registering.
As far as I am aware the only bit that may be incomplete is the ethanol cold start system and it could do with new wipers.
One Tyre is a bit squishy having stood on my drive for 12m but I am honestly 99% sure its the valve and I have a replacement valve.
The tail lights are not shown in the pics but they are included and they work. as do the other lights (indicators unchecked but flasher unit supplied - unfitted)
Some of the pictures were taken at the auction but it hasn't changed much. other than having the rust spots treated and some missing bits replaced.
But just be aware these are big - like 8+ft tall and 7ft wide. See the picture of the 6ft1in guy standing next to the cab. They are tricky to park in an average London Multi story !
Please note the reserve is £3k which is less than I've spent and a VAT invoice can be provided if required.
I really prefer cash/bank transfer but require a £500 deposit by paypal (or cash/bank) within 24hours - just simply because there are many people that bid then never turn up. The vehicle will not be released before cleared funds are provided.
Also I have spares available separately including some hard to get hold of stuff - if the winning bidder doesn't want to buy them they'll be listen on ebay later.
I have a winch bumper available.
Bear in mind other low mileage RBs are being listed at £6-12K please don't send me an email asking what I'll take but if you'd like to arrange to view contact me with your details and I'll call you. Anything else please ask before bidding.
Thanks - Happy Bidding
