Snippets – Who was H. Carson Andrews?
Delivered to the elusive H. Carson Andrews at Brooklands. Brockenhurst; apart from the fact that in 1962 he once had a letter published in Country Life. he is a mystery as are the subsequent names on the chassis card of G. D. Baylis & Colver MacBride – perhaps someone has some information they can share with us? By 1964 GXK15 was with A. M. Preston of Lindores. Fife. during the 1970s Alan Preston was the City Architect for Dundee Corporation. His home was “Woodhill Mains” in the village of Lindores situated on the shore of Lindores Loch. A Pictish stone dating back to the 3rd century can be found in the churchyard of Lindores & at the eastern end of the village there are traces of an ancient castle thought to have belonged to Macduff. the Thane of Fife – immortalised by William Shakespeare in his play MacBeth. In June 1298 just outside the village the Battle of Black Irnsyde was fought between William Wallace & the Earl of Pembroke. with Wallace being the victor.
