Seller's notes: "For 1957, Chrysler flew higher than anybody had ever dreamed with the beautiful finned creations of Virgil Exner. To this day, these cars are among the rarest and most highly prized collectibles. Rare because of the quality control problems that doomed them to an untimely early death, and highly prized because of their "forward look" beauty. It's a classic combination of desire versus availability.......few remain, while many are wanted. Dodge continued to excel in design and performance with its new line of cars. The D500 option, already feared and revered by racers across the country, was continued for 1957 in the form of the last hemi engine Dodge would offer until 1966. The basic D500 option consisted of a single 4 barrel, 9.25:1 compression ratio 325 CID hemispherical head engine developing 285 horsepower at 4800 rpm with 345 lbs-ft of torque at 2800 rpm."

This an uber-rare 1957 Dodge Sierra Station wagon with the original D500 325" hemi under the hood.   This car is extraordinarily rare.   Indeed. if you do a Google search. you will find only one or two other '57 wagons. and neither has the D500 badge which indicates the original D500 hemi option.   The D500 option consisted of a single 4 barrel. 9. 25:1 compression ratio 325 CID hemispherical head engine developing 285 horsepower at 4800 rpm  with 345 lbs-ft of torque at 2800 rpm.   Not bad for mom's grocery getter!

In 1957. there were only 13. 33 Sierra 2-seat wagons and 4. 19 3-seat wagons.   Relatively few (production not recorded in the factory records) of either version were D500 models.   I believe this car to be a 3 seat model as it has a box of 3rd seat trim. but the seat itself is missing.   I have seen the third seats come up on eBay occasionally.

I bought this car from a buddy in Hemet. California a couple of months ago because we were looking for a V8 wagon to pull our vintage 1960 Airstream.   But. before this car even arrived I found a very nice. low mileage. nbsp;1964 Belvedere wagon that I bought as well.   So. the D500 has to go.

This is a very solid desert car.   There is a bit of rust in the floors that has been repaired the old school way with pop rivets. but the area are quite small and would be easy to repair properly. or just leave them as-is.   The body is VERY straight and 99% rust-free.   All of the unobtainable wagon-specific trim and emblems are intact (including the D500 emblem). with the exception two of the DODGE letters on the hood.   The hubcaps are all there.   I have all four NOS tail lights.   I have the original air cleaner.

It was originally two tone light gray and dark gray metallic with a red and black interior.

Mechanically. the car starts. runs. and sounds terrific.   I just had a complete dual exhaust system put on the car.   I haven't gone through the brakes yet. so drives have been limited to short stints around my shop complex with the parking brake. but the car runs well and the torqueflite shifts well.   There are no leaks from the motor or tranny. but the radiator does have a pinhole or two.

The car has power steering and power brakes.

The car has a clear title.

Please look at these closely and don't hesitate to call me at 4o6-57o-9552.   I do not mess with junk or rust buckets. and this is neither.

I will not give this car away.   I do not need to sell it. and if you think it's too expensive then you shouldn't bid on it.   You either understand how unique and rare this vehicle is or you don't.   If you get it. you'll have the coolest surf/tow rig at the car show.

Car is located right off I-90 in Bozeman. Montana 59715.   Please look into shipping before you bid.   I can store the car for several months if you need time to arrange shipping.

I have 100% eBay feedback as both a buyer and seller.   I am an avid vintage Mopar enthusiast and racer. with a passion for unusual rust-free survivor cars.

I have several other Mopars for sale here ~ http://s1091. photobucket. com/user/moparmontana/library/CARS%20FOR%20SALE
