1938 DeSoto S-5 Coupe

For sale here is a very unique two owner barn find 1938 DeSoto Coupe that spent it's entire life in eastern Colorado. At some point in the past, it was refreshed with a paint job and new interior (which I think is correct mohair stuff). Over the years the paint clear coat was sunburned. The vehicle was brought to my shop in Denver and I repaired it to run and drive. It had not been on the road since 2015. Gas tank was drained and fuel line flushed. Carb was cleaned and rebuilt. New spark plugs were installed after the cylinders were oiled and motor turned without starting. The flathead six was started and it fired right up.After running a compression test was done: 70/80/65/70/80/75lbs. The motor runs well with no smoke apparent. The brakes were frozen and the master cylinder and slave cylinders were all rebuilt, brake lines flushed and brake pads are like new (not replaced) The water pump was replaced and a new fan belt installed. The three speed transmission has a free wheeling "Gas Saver" option as well as overdrive. A new 6 volt battery was installed. The speedometer does not work , as well as the gas gauge. The oil pressure shows 40-60 lbs. The ammeter and thermostat work. The light switch works intermittently. New glove box was installed as well as new brake, clutch and gas pedals. The car starts, runs and drives well. I would call it completely rust free, but there is one spot on the lower left corner of the trunk that has a rust crack.There is a spot in the paint below the rear window that had peeled to bare metal and was touched up (see photo). The car is offered here with a reasonable reserve, which is not disclosed. So please don't ask. There is no Buy It Now price , intentionally.
