 SUMMARY:

1972 Chevrolet. K20. 4x4. ¾ ton pickup truck. 4 speed manual transmission. 2 speed transfer case. Rust free.

The VIN# is CKE242F304162

Very Nice. completely refurbished. nearly frame off restoration. The engine is a 350 cu-in. Chevy v-8 motor. It has power steering. power brakes. front disc brakes. Runs great. Less than 2. 00 miles and 18 months on the engine rebuild and restoration. Completely rust free.   Although it isn't a show truck. it did win Best in Class. Off Road division with 7 other entries. Kept every night in the garage. I am the third owner of this truck. My dad bought it in the late 70's from a fellow and I got it from my dad after he passed away (so only 2 families have owned it).

 THE DETAILS:

What is original: Frame. Cab sheet metal. transmission. transfer case. front end. drivelines. fuel tank. and very little else.

Engine: Professionally rebuilt late 70's 350 small block Chevy with 4 bolt main caps. with new: forged crank. pistons/rings. oil pump. water pump. fuel pump. RV cam/lifter/push rods. timing gears and chain. stainless steel swirl polished valves. new Mallory “Street Fire” HEI ignition. Holley 650 cfm vacuum secondary carburetor with Edelbrock Performer aluminum intake. Cast Aluminum Holley valve covers. New battery. clutch. and pressure plate. New. high performance aluminum radiator. I have the dyno charts to show a true 325 HP and 400 foot-pounds of torque (no backyard mechanic's guess of 400 HP). Also has some chrome plated accessories (air cleaner housing. timing chain cover. dipstick and tube. spark plug wire looms. etc. ).

Body and Paint: The Exterior is very straight and the color is “Atomic Orange” (modern Corvette color) and glossy black with a glossy black interior. Professionally done. completely disassembled. sandblasted. treated with rust preventative. multiple coats of primer. paint and clear coat. then reassembled and buffed smooth to eliminate any orange peel. “Nearly frame off” means everything was stripped from the frame for the painting process except the cab. There is a very nice aluminum diamond plate low profile tool box with matching aluminum diamond plate mud guards. side and back bed rail covers. It has Stainless steel. 3” diameter “Nerf Bars” (side rails/steps). The imperfections in the paint are that there are 2 or 3 blisters (dime sized) in the paint on the hood (nowhere else). Also a few runs in the clear coat on the tailgate where the letters CHEVROLET are. which can probably be rubbed out. There are a 3 or 4 very small scratches from normal use and one scratch (touched up) the size of a quarter on the right rear taillight area. The interior of the truck bed is coated with a spray on liner (like Rhino) with a full coverage rubber bed floor mat. It has an 8 foot truck bed. like all stock ¾ ton models.

Running gear: Professionally set up new 3. 54:1 gears in the front differential (Dana 44 ). including replacing the u-joints in the front axles with upgraded “Selectro” manual locking hubs. The rear differential is a Limited Slip Dana 60 from a late 90's Dodge ¾ ton with matching 3. 54:1 gearing. The rear end has all new brake cylinders. brake pads. brake lines and parking brake cables. The transmission is the stock 4 speed with “granny” low and the transfer case is the stock. 2 speed (4Lo. 4Hi. N. 2Hi).

Interior: Professionally reupholstered original seat with new foam and upholstery with a custom embroidered Chevy “bowtie” logo. New aftermarket rubber floormat (100% coverage) with foam rubber insulation. New Custom AutoSound retro look AM/FM/Aux radio (Model USA-230) with 3 new speakers (no holes cut in doors!). new dash pad cover. new sun visors. stock but cleaned gauge cluster. new defroster vent tubes. new glove box. cleaned and repainted heater box. new heater core/fan cage/gaskets with refurbished heater controls. New tachometer. The steering wheel is from a late 70's Camaro Z-28 (very nice). New. aftermarket. color matching driver's and passenger's modern retracting lap/shoulder belts and a matching center lap belt.

Electrical: It has an entirely new “Painless” 18 circuit wiring harness (#10206). The ONLY wires that are original (and didn't come with the new harness) is one that goes to the heater fan motor (connected to the Painless harness) and the harness that goes to the front and back turn signals (at the light itself). Every other inch of wiring is new. New ignition switch with keys to match new door locks. New high temp silicone Accel spark plug wires with nice wire looms. As much as possible and especially under the hood. all of the wiring is dressed “hidden” to leave a much cleaner look. but still be maintainable. The headlights are new Sylvania Silver Star bulbs.

Exhaust: Professionally done. completely stainless steel system. Includes 1. 63" diameter long tube headers. 2. 5” diameter exhaust piping including crossover pipe and Magnaflow mufflers. Sounds nice and strong but with no reverberation.

Suspension: All new Superlift 4” lift system including new shocks. 4 new leaf springs and all new bushings and bolts. New Steering stabilizer and power steering gearbox. Wheels are not new but nice alloy 16” x 8” with new lugnuts. Tires are older but with nearly 100% tread remaining (LT235–85–16LT). Being a ¾ ton. all of the hub bolt patterns are the original 8 lug pattern with 9/16” lug studs.

Rubber: Nearly every rubber part has been replaced with new components. Those include: Front and rear windshield gaskets. door gaskets. fuel nozzle grommet. all fuel and coolant tubing. bed mat and floor mat. All of the bushings to support the bed and cab are new urethane rubber bushings with new bolts. Only the rubber brake lines going to the front brake calipers are original (but in good condition).

“Custom” items:  Small lawn mower pistons are built into shift knobs (built in auto shop in 1976. very cool. more comfortable than you would expect). the turn signal lever is the brow tine antler from a bull elk I shot 25 years ago. All of the tubing under the hood. including the radiator hoses. is covered with black. braided plastic sleeving that looks real nice and not cheesy looking like some of the aftermarket stainless braiding. The center of the horn button is a nicely fitting. nice looking silver dollar (1972 of course) that my granddad gave me for my birthday in 1972.

Replacement Parts: Nearly all of the parts replaced were with OEM parts of donor vehicles (hood. cowl. doors. fenders. grill. bumpers. all the glass. bed. tailgate. seat frame. other misc. ). The only aftermarket sheetmetal are the cab corners and rocker panels.

Other - All these items are less than 2 years old with less than 2000miles: Mirrors (x3). cigarette lighter. dome light. radio antenna. headlights. headlight switch. power steering gearbox. rear u-joints. The spare tire exists and is supported by the OEM spare tire rack under the truck bed.

There is a lot of heart and soul in this truck and it has been babied since I have completed the restoration. It will easily run down the road at 75 MPH (that is why the 3. 54 gears). I hate to get rid of it. but other priorities are needing the funds.
