As Seen In & On Cover Of . Truckin Magazine. Street Trucks & Classic Truck
I thought it would be easier to just post part of the article from Classic Truck Magazine.
Four hundred and twenty-five horsepower. Five hundred foot pounds of torque. best speed of 104 mph. and best quarter-mile 13. 87 seconds. We could be talking about a street machine. But actually. we're talking about X-Cab 1952 Chevy pickup. Though it was not designed to race it does bring home trophies - Best of Show and Best Truck trophies that is. And why not?
This truck is really something to look at with its PPG Canary Yellow and House of Kolor Purple Passion Pearl paint catching your eye. and the fine craftsmanship done on the body of this extended cab truck keeping it there. It makes you think to yourself. Did Chevy build an extended cab in 1952. Well. no they didn't. The cab of this truck was cut right behind the door and 23 inches were added to make it into an extended cab.
Other modifications you'll notice upon closer inspection are a 3-inch top chop. a pancaked hood. and filled seams. It also sports frenched headlights. shaved door handles. a barn door-style tailgate. an ash wood bed. 1939 Ford taillights. and the custom-made Bow Tie prominently displayed on the tailgate.
That is just on the outside. a lot more went into this truck than is immediately apparent. Under the hood the power resides to move all this fine-looking metal along-a small-block Chevy 400 bored to 406 cubes. Other goodies include a Holley hydraulic cam. 750-cfm carb. polished intake manifold. and System Max cylinder heads. Finishing off the mix are Hooker block hugger headers. a 3-inch exhaust system. and a pair of Dynomax stainless mufflers. Transferring the power to the wheels is a Turbo 400 equipped with a 2. 00-rpm-stall B&M torque converter.
Under the truck the frame was boxed. holes welded up. everything sanded smooth. and then powder coated. A 10-bolt Chevy rear end was added along with leaf springs from a 1952 passenger car. Next came Mustang IFS. TCI 2-inch dropped spindles. Fat Fendered Street Rod Shop sway bars. and rack-and-pinion steering. Steve then chose to finish the chassis off with Cragar wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich rubber. Inside. where it matters most how comfortable of a ride you have. is a pair of custom Nissan Stanza seats covered in gray leather. The custom door panels are covered with gray tweed and the floor is covered in gray carpet. The gauges where replaced with a Cyberdyne digital instrument panel. while the steering wheel was replaced with one from Billet Specialties. Tunes are supplied by an Alpine stereo system.
The paint. which is what first catches your eye & graphics and pin-striping were carefully laid out by Mark Lueck Designs And. although it only took one year to mold this truck into what it is today. we believe it'll be bringing Best Of Show trophies home for quite a while.
