After World War II General Motors was the largest corporation in the world.   They had enough money to treat their executive's right.   The top executives in General Motors. Alfred Pritchard Sloan. Jr (1875-1966) President & CEO of General Motors and of course one of the most influential people at General Motors was Harley Earl (1893-1969) along with Harlow Curtice (1893-1962).   These three men were offered three Cadillacs that would be personalized for them as limousines for their personal chauffeur driven limousines by the General Motors Tech Center where the GM Motorama dream cars were produced.

It is a well known story that Harlow Curtice who had come up through the ranks of Buick. turned down the use of a Cadillac executive limousine because he felt that it would offend the Buick people who supported him as he climbed the ladder through Buick at General Motors and he ultimately had a Buick Roadmaster used in lieu of a Cadillac to make into his personal executive limousine at the Tech Center.

The executives Alfred Sloan and Harley Earl and other top executives had made for them special short wheel base Cadillac limousines at the GM Tech Center.

The car that you see before you in this ad has the legend and was known as being the personal car of GM Executive Alfred Bradley. Chairman of General Motorst.   As you can see from the photos the car is a true limousine with divider windows. and heaters in the floor and also special accessories but in a standard Fleetwood chassis wheel base.   These special cars were specially made at the Tech Center for the purposes of either experimentation or in this case a short wheel base limousine for the executive at General Motors.

When this car was ordered for the executive. the car was a 1950 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 Special Sedan.   It was painted black (1) with a blue broadcloth interior (63).   Extra equipment included:  windshield washers. license plate frames. four wheel discs and passenger side mirror (Accessory Group B);  Radio – Syncro-matic with antenna and speakers (JU); Heater (B); and royal white wall tires (RW).   The car was sent to Styling Section for enhancements after assembly.

It is obvious that this car has many similar traits to the well known 1953 Buick Harlow Curtice short wheel based limousine that was sold several years ago at an RM Auction for something near or over the $100. 00. 00 price.

This Cadillac certainly has the eye catching appeal and the extra accessories and special carpet. leather chauffeur driven compartment. division window. heater in floor and limousine roof top that certainly make this a must for any serious Cadillac collector that wants the best and most unusual Cadillacs in his collection.

This car is running. has original paint on it that is highly cracked and has the original interior that could be considered minimally serviceable.   If this car was fully restored as it deserves to be. it could receive an invitation to almost any major car show in the United States including Pebble Beach or Amelia Island.

Many would consider this not only an exclusive General Motors limousine for top executive Albert Bradley but also a “concept car” of the limousine variety.   It just does not get any rarer then this.   The reserve has been set at a very. very reasonable level considering the exclusivity of this car.

As often happens when a car like this is viewed by the multitude of people that see it on Ebay we may actually get more information on the car that we would be happy to add to our listing.

The current owner has owned this car for approximately 25 years.   When he purchased it was on a Bill of Sale being that it was a GM Tech Center executive limousine.   The car is therefore being sold on a Bill of Sale but of course is fully ‘roadable' and was used for transportation in 1950 and would be available in just about any state to get a title under that state's special provisions for untitled production cars.
