1958 Ford Consul Mk2 Highline convertible.Left hand drive.I imported this car from California in July with a view to doing a full restoration and using it next year but have to many projects on the go so decided to sell now.One owner from new, American diplomat who ordered the car new and kept it in England for a while before shipping to the states so the car was issued with a temporary registration plate which I have one of which is rare, the black plate in photo's.The owner was also stationed in Corsica and Brazil and took the car everywhere with him finally returning to California where the car had a very cool reg have one of those plates as well. The engine and gearbox were rebuilt around 5-6 years ago but the car was only used for around a year after that and then garaged due to ill health so don't think it's done many miles since rebuild.Engine starts straight away and runs great sounds really nice, no smoke, rattles or oil leaks, the gearbox is super smooth changes nice in all gears, good clutch. The brakes were rebuilt in the States just before it was shipped over. The bodywork is great for one of these that has not had any major restoration work in the past.Looks like it's had a replacement front wing on the drivers side as it has blue paint under the white which is original factory colour, looks to have had one respray a long time ago.The reg has been applied for here and should come through in the next 2-3 weeks. The hood frame all works ok but needs painting and there is a new complete black hood kit still in the box with fitting instructions included and I have the original rear glass window and frame.Everything works on the car as it should except the wipers but I am sure it just needs a new rubber vacuum hose as the old one has shrunk.Work I have doneRoad wheels shot blasted and powder coated.4 new white band tyres and a new non white band tyre on the spare wheel fitted in the states.New hubcaps.Rear lights rebuilt with some new lenses.New windscreen rubber fitted.Dashtop prepped and painted and the lip around the boot opening.New rocker cover gasket, new spark plugs.New bulbs in dash cluster.Sorted a couple of electrical gremlins.Given the paintwork a good prep and polish.Bits that need doing2 repair patches in the floor pan under the front seat not huge about 18" square.Small patch in one corner of the boot floor. The spare wheel well just has a couple of holes in the very bottom. The sills have some rust at the rear the rest of the sills are solid.Few bits of surface rust around the body but nothing major. For one of these cars the above rust issues are fairly minor as a lot of unrestored ones are rotted out.The interior doe's need tidying, new door cards and kick panels, the seats have vinyl covers on them which are in great condition, original interior colour was red.So overall a great running driving car that you could use once the reg comes through. The car needs someone to take it to the next level, really wish I could do it but have to much on.I have a lot more photo's if you need any and happy to do walk round videos.I can deliver throughout the UK and can ship internationally, please contact me for a quote.Any questions or for viewing please contact Joe on 07860 424243
