As to myself, I am a (71) year old kid that loves muscle cars. For my work, I am retired from managing a Correctional Facility here in Maine and had worked for the Maine Department of Corrections for (40) years. I am also a respected member of my community. I mention this only because of the value of this car and so that prospective buyers will have some idea as to who they are dealing with. Also, please check out my eBay feedback that is at 100% with (1,319) transactions. Many of my transactions have been muscle cars, which I have sold to individuals all over the country as well as Canada, England, France, Switzerland, Germany, Australia and the Netherlands. My reputation for honesty is well known amongst muscle car lovers.

Just some quick history on the Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu

By the time 1974 came along the OPEC fuel crisis had hit Detroit hard, but the mid-sized Chevelle actually sold better than it did the previous year, largely due to its small-block V-8s. Some name changes were made this year, with the Deluxe name being dropped, the Malibu gaining a luxury Classic variant, and the Laguna seeing the addition of the S-3 coupe. The S-3 Laguna carried sporty touches, special instruments including a tachometer, and unique exterior graphics. The venerable 307-cid V-8 was dropped this year, leaving buyers to choose between a 250-cid six, a 350-cid V-8, a new-to-Chevelle small-block 400-cid V-8, and the big-block 454 V-8.

Catalytic converters were added to all General Motors vehicles sold in the U.S. and Canada in 1975, and these devices allowed the engines to be tuned for better performance and fuel efficiency. This changeover also marked the switch to unleaded gasoline. The basic Laguna was dropped, and the Laguna S-3's front end was restyled, giving the car a new aerodynamic look. For 1976, the Malibu Classic obtained exclusive stacked headlights. Mileage ratings along with engines were further improved (now 20 mpg on the highway and 14 mpg in the city for the six-cylinder), and a new 305 V8 was introduced.

The 1977 cars were largely carried over in anticipation of all-new downsized cars for 1978. The one big change was that the big-block 454 V8 was now relegated to trucks, and no longer available on any Chevrolet car.

Mid- to late-1970s Chevrolet Chevelles have yet to receive much attention from collectors, which means that prices are still fairly low. The sportier Laguna and Malibu models have the most potential, though station wagons tend to attract nostalgic buyers. Any Chevelle of this era is fairly easy to live with, as parts are plentiful and mechanicals are straightforward

 I have a video and tons more photos for the serious buyer. Just ask.

OK, the first question you'll have is how can you determine that this Malibu is a “Survivor Car”?

Here is what I consider a car must have for survivor status.

          Original paint:

          Original interior;

          Original drivetrain;

          Original Documentation:

          Information on where the car was first purchased.

So let me say that this Malibu wears its original paint. Still retains its original interior. Has the original drivetrain, has the original buildsheet and was purchased at Sam's Chevrolet in Brewer Maine,

I think that qualifies this Malibu as being a survivor.

So there you go. You now know what I know.

And now for this 1974 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu Classic, 350 automatic that I am selling here today. Let's face it, there are only a small number of these 1974 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu Classic cars out there for sale and how many of those are considered “Survivor Cars”? Try to find another 1974 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu survivor with original drivetrain. If they are out there, they're just not being sold.

Exterior:     The “code 50” Cream Beige Lower Paint looks good but does have some imperfections, some scratches and some very small rust areas. The “code F” vinyl roof is considered in very good condition. All exterior panels appear to be original. All glass is good with the exception of the windshield that has the area in the lower passenger's side. Chrome and brightwork is considered good. Tires are OK, Rims and caps are very good. All exterior items work such as:

·        Head lights (high and low);

·        Tail lights;

·        Brake lights;

·        Back-up Lights;

·        Running Lights;

·        Blinkers (front and rear);

·        Wipers.

Interior:      Completely original interior. No rips or tears in the seats, door panels, headliner or dash. All gauges are functional. Heater works as well as the overhead light. (missing the cover) Seat belts are all there and working. Radio and horn do not work.

Engine/Tranny:    What can I say about the engine accept it's pretty much all original. No smoking, leaks or funny noises. As to the automatic transmission, it works/shifts fine.

Undercarriage;      Driver quality with new mufflers. Pretty much surface rust. See photos.
