Ford Escort RS 2000 Custom mk2, Pristine show car, full nut

The RS was totally restored in 2009/10. was originally a black car but as my 1st RS was Riviera Blue and I didn't like the Black with BVR it went Blue.

The car was bought to enjoy but having done the same as I did with the first one I had 20+ years ago (made far to clean to do so!) I have been toying with the idea of selling and getting a TVR (V8 sound. old english walnut dash. leather all appeal along with the performance.

Any rust has been removed I know every inch of the car and it's mint (car totally stripped to bare shell. restored and full nut & bolt re-build). ll cavities drown in waxoil! When done I entered in the RS club Novice section of the concourse and either came 3rd or 2nd. getting 3rd at national day 2010. (Magazines & trophies go with car)

All components were refurbished before re-fitting. new gas strut inserts in front struts. new koni rear dampers. underside was cleaned back and re-painted dove grey. under arches done in blue. Even parts you can't see like the wiper mechanism was polished! was a labour of love to do. had no intention of ever selling but unfortunately can't afford to keep and get the TVR as well so will have to go sadly (unless I win lotto in mean time)

The interior hasn't been refurbished. mainly due to the seats being very good as they are. rest of trim is excellent!

Door cards have speakers but done in brown to blend into carpeting on trims. New door seals fitted since pictures taken.

When bought the car hadnt been on the road since 1991 so although have no proof the milage of 86k along with condition of interior lead me to believe it could be correct.

The milage is now 89k. I am the 11th owner.

I sent off for v888 info from dvla. the original sales invoise is included. was supplied to Newcastle dealers Longs by Lakes Ford in Cumbria.

Original owner was a company director who sold after 3 years to a friend in local Motorsport club. I met this gentleman (2nd owner) after completing the restoration. he said car had very low mileage when he bought it as the original owner didn't use it much. was dealer serviced until his ownership. Glad to say he was very impressed with the car!

3rd owner contacted me saying he recalled it having under 20k when he bought it. he serviced himself (as suppose most did as easy to work on. part of being an enthusiast too!)

No further info found bar he sold to someone from London.

The car is standard bar had been overboared to 2. 1. hardly had any carbon on pistons so looked a recent re-build. I have fitted a Sierra injection Unleaded head. have the original also.

Original engine block with matching numbers. inner wing top plate correctly stamped.

Same key for all locks. have 2 keys and metal code tag.

HPI clear. check done by RS Owners club in 2010 for valuation. only colour change i did on record.

Also a 5 speed gearbox had been fitted (much nicer on motorways). all else is standard original spec so visually is a totally standard original RS2000 Custom. (Know sills should be satin black but couldnt bring myself to do so as looked so nice in blue)

Fitted with supplying dealer number plates. rear window sticker and tax disc holder. which holds a repo 1980 disc ( as was registered August 1979). have new unused/unopened dealer booklets and service booklet along with the rare RS suplement booklet.

The spare is an original Pirelli CN36. tyres on car are as new Goodyear GT70's. Now has period correct white battery fitted.  

If she doesnt sell i will fit rear seat belts & force myself to use her! (wife wont allow kids in back as none fitted). hence being used as 2 seater and after having a 53 reg MX5 1. 8 as my daily driver for past year the thought of having similar with V8 soundtrack & grunt is very appealing. hence the thought of the TVR Chimaera.

£500 deposit and balance of payment  cash on collection please. car held until all funds paid.

I know from experience that cars don't always look as good in real life as in photos. this one certainly does!

Well worth trip up north to view. not that far really. straight off A1.

To sum up a genuine RS in truly excellent condition both bodily . mechanically and low mileage.
