1957 Ford Thunderbird

Body & Paint:  original color of “Torch Red”.  Appears to have had a ‘frame-on' restoration performed in the mid-2000's using a 2-stage urethane paint for the exterior and retained the original color and paint elsewhere throughout the car.  Body looks solid with no visible ‘bondo' or replacement panels.  Paint quality has an excellent finish and only one ‘stone chip' is evident (see photo).  No bubbles or cracking.  Exterior chrome and emblems are in very good condition Only exception is the front bumper which is probably original to the car and has a few pits and scratches.

DRIVE-LINE & UNDERCARRIAGE:  Rebuilt 312 cu. in. Ford ‘Y' block V-8 rated at 245 h.p. with matching Ford Cruise-O-Matic 2-speed transmission and open rear differential w/3.10:1 gears.  No leaks were evident.  New fuel system including gas tank, lines, and pump. New exhaust system.

Solid frame and floorboards, original springs, new shocks, sway bars, suspension bushings, steering linkage, brakes & hardware (non-power drum). 

INTERIOR:  Restored vinyl interior and carpeting.  Steering wheel, and dash look original.  Snaps located on lower front windshield molding indicate at one time a tonneau cover was made for the car but is not included.

ELECTRIC:  Thunderbird appears to have been re-wired and some of the harnesses were replaced.  Interior and exterior lights work including courtesy lights, turn signals, hi & low beam headlights, LED taillights, heat, and wipers.  Please note flashing brake lights in the video are due to being LED type and recording speed of camera they work normally, just brighter.

OPTIONS:  AM/FM Town & Country radio, power steering, and color matching removable ‘port hole' hard top in excellent condition except for a slight tear in the headliner. [See photo (cart pictured is NOT included)]. 

CONCLUSION:  This Thunderbird is a great example of a true classic and obviously has been well maintained and garage kept since its restoration.  Production date was 3/18/1957 so a larger Trim Tag was used.  The body and frame look excellent possibly because it was sold in the Los Angeles area.  The underside has some surface scale, but no holes or cracks.  Although the interior does not match the Trim Code it does adds a nice touch.  No convertible top or bracing are included.  The car starts easily, its fun to drive, and draws attention wherever it goes.
