ABSOLUTELY AMAZING THUNDERBOLT REPLICA!! VERY CORRECT IN EVERY WAY! OVER 500HP AND STREET LEGAL! CROSS RAM 427CI V8 AND 4-SPEED!! NOT A NICER ONE EXISTS!! SPECIFICATIONS Year 1963 Make Ford Model Fairlane Thunderbolt Replica VIN 3R43U181537 Mileage 80. 93 Engine 427ci Cross Ram Cylinders V8 Transmission 4-Speed Title Clear Color Burgundy Interior Color Tan DESCRIPTION Imagine a simpler time. when winning a race on Sunday translated to selling your cars on Monday. The big three started battling it out on race tracks after World War II. bringing honor to the factory team and sales to the dealer floors. Ford had been very successful in racing in the early 60s. but needed to keep their edge. The 427ci Galaxie had been dominating NASCAR racing. but proved too heavy a car for the more competitive drag racing competitions. In a now famous plot. engineers took the smaller Fairlane body. lightened the car in everyway possible and installed the massive 427ci V8. The THUNDERBOLT was born! Built outside the factory by Dearborn Steel Tubing. factory Fairlanes would arrive. be stripped to bare essentials and the new 427ci motor shoehorned under the hood. Of the 121 cars built over the 1963 to 1964 model years. only the first 11 Factory Race Sponsored cars where painted in Vintage Burgundy. the remaining cars sold to private race teams painted Wimbledon White. After 1964 the NHRA changed the rules to require 500 models of a car to be manufactured for Super Stock competition. and Ford. which had been losing $2000 on each Thunderbolt sold at the sticker price of $3900. ceased production. To find an original Thunderbolt in any condition is next to impossible. but when they do come to market they command upwards of 250. 00 dollars!!

The 1963 Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt replica seen here was built to be as exact a copy of the original 11 as possible!! Finished in stunning Vintage Burgundy with Tan vinyl Interior and powered by a 1963 date-coded. center-oiler 427ci V8 with cross-bolted main!! The car started life as a dry California built Fairlane 500. just as the original 11 did! It was then treated to a complete restoration of the body. interior. suspension. brakes. plumbing. wiring. interior. chrome. trim. weather stripping. and so on. The front fenders. "teardrop" hood. and front bumper are fiberglass pieces just like the originals. A 1963 427ci V8 engine and 4-speed transmission were then installed along with a new 9 inch ford rear end with a spooled differential and 4:56 gear set. The engine received a complete rebuild along with a set of Edelbrock RPM aluminum heads. Vintage Mickey Thompson Power Ram cross ram intake. dual Holley Performer Carburetors. Edelbrock Aluminum water pump. 9 Quart Oil Pan. full length Tube Headers. finned Cobra valve covers. custom grind solid lifter camshaft. Mallory Distributor. Mallory Performance Coil and Taylor Race wires. The rare. but correct headlight air intake snorkels replace the inner headlights and funnel fresh air to the carbs.

Just like the original cars. this one was treated to all the weight saving techniques possible. The boys at Dearborn Steel used the delete button on everything. The radio. heater. sun visors. passenger wiper blade. cigar lighter. rear window cranks. sound deadening. carpeting. bench seats were all deleted!! Rubber floor mat. front econoline buckets. auxiliary engine gauges. Hurst shifter. and manual everything rounded out the interior. The auxiliary gauges in this car are Autometer Temperature. Oil Pressure and Tachometer with shift light. This car features period correct Torque Thrust D mag wheels wrapped in Mickey Thompson ET Street Slicks. Fronts are 25x4. 5 and the rears are 28x10 all with excellent tread life left in them! An extra electric pusher fan was installed to aid in cooling during heavy traffic. but we never needed it on our test drive. High volume fuel pump and fuel filters keep the motor feed. along with a new factory gas tank. Flowmaster single chamber mufflers and welded exhaust channel spent fuel out under the rear axle.

This car is an absolute trill ride. We have personally driven this car on the streets of St. Louis to the delight of everyone. and can attest to the brutal power this car can unleash if pressed. Street legal. but track prepped!! The paint. body. interior. chrome. stainless trim and so on are all of show quality! The wiring. plumbing. fabrication work. are all of professional quality! Of all the so called replica Thunderbolts out there. this is the most authentic on one we have ever seen and are very proud to represent it!! Not a garage built weekend warrior. the professional build cost of this car is easily twice our asking price. Vintage racers and race replicas are quickly rising in value as collectors seek to relive the glory days of racing be it at the track. or in the garage over beers. Over and over again we are seeing that vintage race cars are great investments. This could be a great car for vintage racing or cruise nights alike. This one will definitely get you noticed at shows!
