Porsche 912 911 1968 LHD

1968 left hand drive Porsche 912 supplied as a 5 dial dashboard. 5 speed car with sundym tinted glass to Texas USA. History back to 1977 with one owner until 2012. when it was sold and imported into the UK.

From April 2012. the car has been subject to a full and comprehensive restoration.

The list of work is extensive and complimented by over 60 photographs of the paintwork alone.

The work carried out includes the following;

The car was stripped to bare metal and painted to a high standard in period Porsche 6801 Slate grey. This stunning colour was the one used on the famous Porsche owned by Steve McQueen. Over 60 photographs were taken during the preparation and painting of the car which was carried out by Proline Finishing Ltd which is a professional classic and performance vehicle spray painting company in Northamptonshire. The body required no new panels and only localised repairs to the floorpans. The panel gaps are even and as factory.

A brand new vintage brown leather interior was fitted. which includes all seat facings in leather. door cards in vinyl two tone brown and black. new dash top and rear parcel shelf.

New carpet set.

Brand-new perforated headlining.

Full engine rebuild by Revival Cars. the Porsche 912 specialist in London. The rebuild included new barrels. pistons. all bearings and seals.

The engine has been properly run in with oil change after 2000 miles and valves reset. Rolling road print-outs show 98bhp at 5800rpm.

All the engine tin-ware and mounting bar has been removed and powder coated in black.

New clutch. cables. all 4 new Koni shock absorbers. heat exchangers and full exhaust.

All new aluminium trim which includes all the side. rear and front trim. rubbers and seals all supplied from Roger Bray Restorations.

Brand new set of Fuch style alloys with tyres.

New windscreen and front. rear and quarter window seals.

Bonnet. boot. door and door handle seals.

Two new headlamps and fog lamps.

Reconditioned and working rare original Blaupunkt period radio now with mp3 connection.

Rare wooden Nardi steering wheel.

Improved gear change as it has been fitted with a period quick shift gear changer which does not alter the look of the gear stick but makes the gear change over a short distance and positive.

Thick folder with all bills and receipts available.

The car won 1st place at the Concours competition in August 2013 at the annual Porsche Club GB event at Chatsworth House in the air-cooled section.

Full MOT is on the car from this week.
