Must Sell!

ONE OF A KIND Vintage 1962 Ford Fairlane 500 2 Door Coup Classic Prototype.

It is called the Avelare Car. named after William Joseph Avelare. who prototyped the vehicle. at San Jose Ford. in San Jose. CA. in 1962.

William Joseph Avelare was master mechanic and San Jose Ford's Number One mechanic. for 45 years.

VIN No. 2R41L151655. Body Type Model 2DSDCL5.

The Fairlane's rear frame was cut off and refitted with the rear frame. of a 1962 Mercury. to fit an overdrive shaft.

In doing this. it made the vehicle. nearly a foot longer than the normal Fairlane 500 and it literally cost the price. of two automobiles and six months to make.

The Fairlane 500 was originally purchased. in Feb-1962 but was not registered until Aug-1962.

It has a standard clutch. with the shift on the column collar and shifts from first. to second and third gear.

When up to speed. the automatic overdrive engages. as an automatic fourth gear.

This is the only vehicle. that ever had this function. making it not only a unique vehicle but also very valuable.

It measures 16ft. 5in. in length. from tail fin to front fender and 5ft. 10in. in width. from tail fin to tail fin.

I was suppose to measure bumper to bumper. which is longer.

Also. I have not been able to find any information. about when the first four speed car was produced. until after 1962 and any info would be helpful.

It has a V8 badge. on each side front fender. a Fairlane 500 badge on the sides just past passenger windows and overdrive badge rear. just to the right below the trunk.

The Avelare Car was then shipped via railroad car. to San Diego. to be reupholstered. then shipped back to San Jose. using the same transportation.

William Joseph Avelare was married to my grandmother. as her second husband and when he passed. in 1986. his Fairlane 500 was handed down to me.

The first time. driving home. I was driving up a 22% grade. going 100mph and didn't realize it. until my passenger asked me why everyone else was going so slow.

Being the only one. in the world. makes the Avelare Car. a priceless part. of American history and American ingenuity.

Unfortunately. I am no longer able to keep this vehicle and I am no longer able to do the repairs needed to restore it. to pristine condition.

Also. I am unable to do the research. at a US Patent Library. in order to produce any documentation needed and I can find nothing. on the Internet.

Blue-book is not the right source. to research this vehicle.

Condition.

It has been on Non-Op status. with the CA-DMV. since the 1990's.

The original engine is a 221CI V8 block. which had over 250. 00 mile and never has an overhaul.

Just proves that maintenance really is the key to a vehicle longevity and the secondary Franz oil filter system helped. as well.

A mechanic had once commented. that it was a nice little 289 and his error caused me to try putting a 289V8. from a 1964 Fairlane. into it.

Unfortunately. the engine mounts and clutch disk do not line up properly and I am no longer able to correct this.

I was then told it was a 260V8. by an auto mechanic instructor and he was wrong.

Thanks to fellow eBayer. Ihmtm. I have learned that it is a 221CI V8.

It needs another standard 221CI V8 block. from another 1962 Fairlane 500.

The 289V8 was equivalent to a brand new engine. when I bought it and I am sure it is still in usable condition.

I still have the original engine but it may no longer be in usable condition. however it should be kept. with the Avelare Car.

The emergency hand break cable has snapped and the breaks will not disengage.

The tires were brand new and have never incurred any miles and may still be usable but time has taken its toll upon them.

The upholstery needs repair and the dash frame replaced.

The original bone white paint finish has a lot of rust spotting and needs to be detailed cosmetically.

It needs a lot of cosmetic work. time and care. for someone to invest.

I just no longer have the time. finances or ability. to restore it myself but I may be available. when needed. on how the Avelare Car. is put together.

The photos are old but at this time. they are all I have because I have no way to take any new pictures.

Arrangements can be made. for potential buyers. to come see the Avelare Car. at its location.

Even with the condition. that the Avelare Car is in. it would be a very good investment.

It would cost about $20. 00. 00 to totally restore this vehicle and I have dropped my starting bid. by that amount.

Once restored. it's potential market value would be far beyond the coast of this purchase and it's restoration.

My original plan was to restore the Avelare Car then take it to the auction. at the Concourse. in Pebble Beach but too many road blocks. in life. prevented me from doing so.

I was also going to do some research. at the US Patent Library because William Joseph Avelare did tell me. that he had several patents. from his work but life's road blocks kept me from this. also.

Everything. that I have posted. in this listing. is true and I am not going to recant something. when I am telling the truth about something.

If anyone feels that what I have posted. in this listing. is untrue. then I dare them to report it. to eBay. instead of bothering me with insulting messages.

Whomever does make a report. to eBay. they had better be able to provide proof because they could be held legally responsible. for the outcome. of doing so.

Please. no insulting messages. when it is suppose to be legitimate questions. which wastes your time and mine.

WARNING

Don't be fooled! There is no such thing. as a "Vintage STAR TREK" item. In order to be vintage. an item must be 50 years old and to be antique. it must be 100 years old. STAR TREK first aired. in Sep-1966. which was not yet 50 years ago. Some dealers will throw the words vintage and antique. into their list. which is false advertising and illegal. in all 50 states.

PLEASE LOOK AT MY OTHER ITEMS. THAT I HAVE. UP FOR AUCTION OR SALE.

THANK YOU AND GOOD LUCK. ON YOUR BIDS.
