The 124 chassis 300/E-Class. and its low-production Coupe and Cabriolet - Coupe in this scenario were the ultimate expressions of the mid-range Benz. with conservative-yet-influential design. premium materials. lively straight-six engines and price tags that ensured exclusivity. Many have said that this generation of E-Class cars represents the last old-guard. engineers-in-charge. cost-no-object Benzes. and I won't disagree. I have driven and taken care of this car with the ultimate care and I am looking to pass it on to the next person with the same thought.
These were expensive. low-production cars. and yet thanks to their inherent quality. they enjoy a high survival rate. Being based on the globally popular. immensely proven 124 (nearly 2. 74 million variants built!) means that the Coupe's and Cabriolet's mechanicals hold no mystery. They date back to a time when Mercedes-Benz engineered many components to be serviceable.
Combining efficient. ageless design and a distinctly German take on luxury. the 124 Coupe and Cabriolet are among the Mercedes-Benzes that could truly be considered heirloom-quality. They remain practical for everyday use. and are undoubtedly "youngtimer" classic cars that will be cherished in the future.
