Please note that experience shows us that the photobucket of over 100 large pixel pictures posted here are in most cases best viewed and downloaded using the very latest and most updated version of the 'Firefox' browser as some other browsers and especially older browser versions are not capable of accommodating the size of the download. Over the years our clients have overwhelmingly been appreciative of our many unaltered large pixel photos posted in our ads and our feedback has been that it is very rare that a seller will post all but the most flattering of photographs. We prefer to expose the complete roll of film taken of the car. in sometimes unflattering but natural sunlight. in order for our prospective buyers to be able to see true and reliable images of the car advertised and that is the reason for some seemingly duplicated shots. We trust you will agree.

West Coast Classics are proud to present a great opportunity to restore this rare original southern California 'Black Plate' example of this 1967 Oldsmobile Toronado 2 Door Hardtop 'Deluxe' coupe with it's original 425ci 385HP V8 engine and loaded with factory options including air conditioning ($390); electronic cruise control ($49); tilt steering wheel ($42); power steering; power brakes; power drivers seat ($74); power windows ($110); electric clock; AM/FM 'Wonderbar' radio ($133); front seat console ($54); vinyl roof ($110) and courtesy lights!

Finished in tan from its it's original factory 'Florentine Gold Metallic' color paint (Paint Code Z) with it's original factory 'Parchment' color vinyl seats. a a matching tan vinyl top and its mostly completely original interior and with it's original wheels and hubcaps.

The car has no signs of any major accidents or rust but had been sitting in a garage for a few years before we recently purchased the car and got it up and running. The car will need restoring with its repaint being old and of poor quality and with its original 'Parchment' interior in fairly good condition throughout apart from the dashboard which has some cracks and the rear seats where the vinyl is separating. Please also note that the original spare wheel is in the trunk but there is no trunk lining or carpet.

Oldsmobile created the news of the year in 1966 with the introduction of the Toronado. a bold idea combining intriguing exquisite styling with every detail executed by the legendary Bill Mitchell and with sports car performance and which was also the first front wheel drive car (since the mid 30's Cord of which the Toronado would be compared by some) of the modern automotive era. It proved to be one of the most desirable Oldsmobiles ever produced. The Toronado was a full-size luxury sport car with a look unlike any other car on the road at the time. jutting front fenders. hidden headlamps. muscularly flared wheel arches and a cropped tail trailing a smooth fastback roofline makes these first generation models unmistakable even today. It was a very large 2 Door Hartop model distinguished by large rounded wheel cut outs. a sloping fastback roofline. a full-width grille with hidden headlights mounted between the grille and the hood line. The Toronado had a 425 c. i. engine that unleashed 385 HP. plenty of horsepower to match any of its competition combined with exceptional traction. handling and performance. The technology used in the Toronado. along with its ride and handling achievements garnered the Toronado the prestigious 1966 'Motor Trend' magazine 'Car of the Year' award! By 1967 every model in the Oldsmobile line up was to be compared to the Toronado in some respect in the majority of its advertising. The car received only some very modest restyling with the only major appearance change being to the area round the headlight opening which was now made flush as opposed to the small indented area above the first years model and these first generation Toronado's boast 'Milestone' status.

The original 425cid 4 barrel engine with 386 HP with still correct factory colors and casting # (389244) is extremely strong and powerful and this particular car drives very well considering it was basically found as a non-driving project car two months ago. This particular car is fully loaded with the rare center console and bucket seats. factory air conditioning. power steering. power brakes. power door locks. cruise control. tilt steering. courtesy lights and boasts it's original 'Olds' AM/FM 'Wonderbar' radio. The automatic transmission shifts well and the temperature always remains cool!

Although obviously a project car which will need both mechanical and cosmetic attention to bring back to its former glory. this remains a very rare and highly desirable and collectible unabused and very original example of one of the outstanding muscle cars of the sixties. which has high repute amongst American classic car collectors and obviously in particular Oldsmobile enthusiasts for both it's beautiful lines and smooth fast performance for a luxury coupe.

In summary. this is one great opportunity for a father and son project to restore fully or else simply a great rust free original southern California black plate example of a first generation 1967 Oldsmobile Toronado 2 Door Hartop 'Deluxe' coupe; a very rare fully loaded model with it's original engine and a virtually completely original example of this increasingly collectible marque built for only two years in this most desirable of early first generation versions (1966-67) before the later second generation (1968-70) less desirable models. A sure-fire investment that's sure to appreciate over the years for any classic American sixties muscle car collector!
