Here we have a sweet 1972 Mercury Cougar convertible for sale.   It is equipped with a 351 Cleveland V8 engine backed by an automatic transmission.   This car comes equipped with a power convertible top and factory A/C.   It has power steering and power brakes.   This classic muscle car runs and drives well!  Jump in. start it up. and go!  The motor is strong and sounds good.   The transmission shifts through the gears smoothly for its age and the brakes work well.   This is a running and driving project.   There isn't much that needs to be done to make this car very nice.  

 

Exterior - Overall it is in nice shape.   The lights front and rear are working.   Brake lights work except for the passenger side.   The blinkers need a new flasher to work properly.   The windshield wipers work.   There are no cracks in the glass and they are all in good shape.   There is a small amount of rust coming through but it is mostly in the driver side door and bottom of the rear quarter panels as seen in the pictures.   The paint appears to be original and is in decent shape for the age.   The trunk needs adjustment in the lock striker for it to line up properly.   The underside of the car looks decent with just some surface rust.   There is a soft spot in the rear driverside floorpan and front passenger side floorpan.   There are a couple of spots in the trunk where the rust has come through.   Overall the exterior of the car is nice for its age and originality.

 

Interior - Overall it is in decent shape.   Everything appears to be there.   The gauges appear to be working however we have not driven the car for an extended period of time to see if they are reliable.   Some of the dash lights are not working.   The radio works.   The heat and A/C work however it is not blowing cold.   The power convertible top is all there and moves freely.   You can hear the pump turn on and off when you use the switch but it is not moving the top.   It also needs a new canvas.   As you can see from the pictures it needs an interior kit.   The seats themselves are in good shape they just need to be recovered.   The carpet needs to be replaced.   The door panels are there but need to be recovered.   Put an interior kit in this car and it will look great!

 

Drivetrain - This car runs and drives nice!  It fires right up. idles smoothly. shifts through the gears smoothly. and stops well for its age.   The engine is strong and sounds good.   There are no noticeable abnormal noises coming from the engine. transmission. or rear end.   Overall the drivetrain is in good shape.   It has plenty of power and will lay some stripes!

 

Suspension - The suspension feels good.   The ride is comfortable and smooth.   There are no noticeable abnormal noises.   For its age the suspension feels good.

 

Brakes - Brakes feel strong and have no problem stopping this car.   There are no noticeable abnormal noises.

 

Steering - The power steering works great with no noticeable abnormal noises.

 

We have tried to describe the vehicle as best and accurate as we can and list the things that need attention.   However we could have missed some things and it is possible what is working today may stop working tomorrow. This is the reason this vehicle is sold As-Is and may have signs of wear. tear. fade. rust. age. weathering and may require repair. service. replacement. and maintenance of any and all components.   We have not looked into repairing the things that don't work.   It could be something little like a fuse. dirty connection. or it could need new parts.   We just haven't had the time to look into it.

 

In saying all that this is by no means a "junk" car.   It is actually in good shape for its age and originality.   With a little work on the exterior and interior this will be a very nice ride!  It fires right up and runs and drives great.   The transmission shifts through the gears and the brakes are good.   But remember this is a used car that is coming up on its 41st birthday. but that's what makes it cool!  The odometer reads 21. 25.   We assume it is 121. 25 but with a vehicle of this age we cannot be certain of the exact mileage.

      Payments

We accept Certified and Cashiers Checks. Bank Wires and credit cards. All funding and paperwork must be received as soon as possible and within no more than 3 days of auction close or we reserve the right to re-list or sell to any other qualified buyer. Winning bidder must confirm his winning bid with a $500 non-refundable deposit within 24 hours of auction end. Balance of purchase is due to the seller within 3 days of end of auction.  

 

     Taxes and Fees

"Buyer" is responsible not only for knowing their own states' laws regarding taxes and fees. but also remitting the proper taxes. fees. and documents for their state. All taxes and fees must be paid in full in order for the vehicle to be titled and registered.  

      Title Information

Vehicle titles may be held by banks or lenders as collateral for loans. In many cases there is a delay in receiving the original instruments of up to 21 days from the time we pay a vehicle off. While we usually have all titles in our possession at closing. there are occasions where we may be waiting for them to arrive.

      Finalizing Your Purchase

Winning bidder MUST communicate with us by e-mail or phone within 24 hours of the end of the auction to make arrangements to complete the transaction. If we cannot confirm your intention to buy or the sale is not completed within 2 business days. we reserve the right to re-list this vehicle or sell to any other qualified buyer.
