2000 Ford Excursion with legendary 7. 3 liter turbo diesel which is the last year for the bombproof forged lower end. Mechanically pampered. but this is a work truck and treated as such. Bought it at 130K about 10 years ago (5K avg per year). Maintained by local diesel shop with all of the typical 100-200K maintenance requirements taken care of. It has a current 9/17 inspection and many years/miles of faithful service remaining.

All typical mid-life 7. 3 maintenance and upgrades have been completed. Oil pan replacement and all associated work done two years ago. All of the right upgrades to fuel pressure spring. cleaning turbo. upgrading turbo wastegate. etc have all been done. Additionally. transmission was replaced with JASPER upgraded unit at 178K with a 100. 00 mile / 36-month transferable warranty. The work was done by the same diesel shop which is also the nation's largest JASPER distributor.

Vehicle is sold as is - we have included all significant information.  These are getting harder to find. especially mechanically taken care of.  All work has been done by a local diesel shop with a phenomenal reputation. Most receipts in hand for the described work below and can get copies from the shop if needed.
Reasonably priced to sell  – check what these are selling for at dealerships and online offerings.   Clear title in hand. but in no hurry to sell.   If the vehicle is right for you. then you know the value of exactly what is described above.   It is a great value. ready to go to work and will likely last many years and miles in a way that no other vehicle can.   Cash. certified check only.   Must transfer title at time of sale.

Mileage may increase with test drives and minor use.   If you are still reading. you probably know that this vehicle is middle-aged with hundreds of thousands of good miles left.

Truck includes a DiabloSport Predator Tuner which includes a number of canned tunes – the 40hp Tow tune is what is usually installed which gives a little more power. but more importantly. it yields smoother transmission shift points and a non-towing highway mileage between 15-16 mpg which is phenomenal for a vehicle of this size.   Reprogramming takes minutes for more power or back to stock.   Vehicle also includes a new. unused cold air intake.

All modifications and upgrades have been for reliability and utility rather than testosterone.  

The exhaust has been upgraded to a turbo back 4” stainless free flow system which is still reasonably quiet and greatly lowers exhaust gas temperatures.   The springs had been replaced prior to our purchasing and we have added lifetime warranty Bilstein shocks at all four corners.   It handles very well and tows like a champ with Reese TowPower brake controller.

Upgraded 2002 style headlights and F250 style chrome grill have gotten rid of the Excursion egg crate grill and typically clouded headlights.   The tires are Yokohama E-range AT/S with 11/32 rear and 6/32 front.   These trucks require Load Range E tires – don't buy one that has anything less.

Non-smoking interior is in good condition with third row seats. rear climate control (2 AC units!) and leather to comfortably seat up to 8 although more reasonably 7 adults.   Third row can actually seat 2 full sized adults or 3 kids comfortably.   Worst flaw is typical wear and split leather on driver's seat which the heavy-duty seat covers help to preserve.

And the bad stuff – typical issues at bottom of driver's door and at rear door corner.   Paint is okay and all pictures taken without a good bath.   Most of the misc scratches would probably buff out if you chose to do it – but definitely not a show truck.   One of the more significant scuffs can be seen on the rear barn doors.   Driver's seat has typical splits in leather seating surface - thus the covers.

If you are looking for a diesel SUV with a proven. reliable powertrain. monster tow capacity and an absolutely reliable workhorse. then look no further – there isn't anything else.   No other SUV has more interior volume. is able to hold full sheets of plywood or can come close to match the 11. 00 lb tow rating.   If you want to tow heavy with an SUV. there is no substitute.

Only selling because we have replaced it with a newer Excursion with all of the suspension mods that we wanted and keep as a forever truck.
