Up for sale is a beautiful 1956 Ford Thunderbird.  This T-Bird is equipped with the original 312 V8 4 Barrel motor mated with the original 3 Speed Manual Transmission with Overdrive.
I purchased this vehicle in early March from a former Car Collection Museum that had become run down and out of business for several years.  This gorgeous T-Bird was neglected and forgotten about inside a barn that was falling down. Once I got the vehicle loaded up and back home I had my mechanic go through the basic mechanics of the vehicle.  With a fresh battery and a supplemental fuel line we were able to get the vehicle running within minutes.  The following work has been done to the vehicle since I purchased it.
Original tea pot 4 barrel carburetor was sent out to Hill's Thunderbird Center in Ohio and professionally rebuilt by Thunderbird specialists Both heads on the motor were removed due to a stuck valve on the passenger side.  They were sent to a professional machine shop where they were totally rebuilt and serviced.  The exhaust system was repaired with new mufflers The brakes were serviced The fuel system was cleaned and refilled with non-ethanol gasFull tune up and fluid changes throughout the vehicleFour new shocks 4 Brand New Radial Coker Whitewall TiresThe vehicle was thoroughly cleaned and detailedAs you can tell from the photos the car shows extremely well.  The vehicle comes with the hard top that you see and I also have the soft top.  The soft top needs minor restoration and a new canvas as it had been left sitting next to the car for many years.  It is an original Ford Thunderbird soft top with the chrome strip on the top.  The chrome trim is very good on the car and shows very well.  The chrome bumpers are faded but still have a decent shine to them.  They are terrific candidates for a re-chrome as they are not dented and in good shape structurally.
This car is an absolute pleasure to drive.  Since the work was completed on the car I have put nearly 300 miles on the car.  If you have never driven a Tri-Five T-Bird with the top down it is quite the experience.   If you don't like attention I do not suggest doing it as you will be waved at and talked to every time you stop at a light.  The paint shows very well.  It appears to be about a 10 year old paint job as it does show some age as you get up close to it.   As you can tell from the photos it is definitely a beautiful driver quality vehicle.
The interior is very nice.  All the gauges work except the clock (even the Tac works!)  There is a minor seam tear in the upholstery on the passenger side of the bench seat that can only be seen up close.   The carpet is in great shape as is the headliner on the hard top.
The frame is very very clean for a New York car as you can tell from the photos.  There is no rot/rust on the frame except for typical minor surface rust that you expect in any 61 year old car.  The trunk is in great shape also.
The car runs and drives very well.   No knocks or clunks it goes down the road very well.  I love driving it.  It is definitely a terrific cruiser and the overdrive option makes it a perfect highway / back road machine.
Now that I have saved this vehicle from being another lost classic it is time for someone else to enjoy the vehicle and hopefully care for it properly for the years to come.  It is ready to hop in and enjoy all summer long.
The market on these Thunderbirds are really all over the place.  I typically use Collectorcarmarket. com for my references.  If you want to know where the reserve is on this car please refer to their website.  If you look up the #4 level vehicle (which is basically a driver quality vehicle with flaws) this is the ball park where the reserve is on this vehicle.  This Thunderbird is actually closer to a #3 vehicle and if the bumpers were done I would classify it as a #3.  That being said the reserve is VERY fair on this car and I feel it is aggressive in hopes that the car will sell and someone will get a good price on a beautiful car.  I have checked current Thunderbirds that are on the market and others that have sold on eBay.  I have put the reserve on this car on the low end of the sale prices of those vehicles.
