If you're like most of us gearheads. you go to countless car shows and take in hundreds of cool cars with the plan of building one head-turning street rod that you can REALLY be proud of. Naturally. yours will have all the cool tricks you've seen on other cars rolled into one awesome package. And it'll feature the perfect stance. a top notch powerplant. a retro interior and a subtle coat of paint that lets everyone know you're main focus was substance. The problem is: haven't you been saying this very same thing for the past five years. ten years. has it already been twenty years?! It seems like you're a little long on planning and WAY overdue for some octane-fueled fun. At RK Motors Charlotte. we believe classic cars are built to be enjoyed. not planned to be enjoyed. And this slick '31 Ford Coupe is a complete 'smart buy' that'll fulfill your needs faster. and cheaper. than any car you've spent years idealizing.

This hot coupe's smooth and solid body began life as a run-of-the-mill Ford Model A that was destined to roll through years of dry. South Dakota sunsets. When the car's current owner took possession of its once-patched body. he promptly contacted Charles Libby Fabrication in Charleston. North Carolina and arranged a celebrity-style restoration that included a 5-inch chop. widened rear fenders and a bobbed rear end. Once those custom lines were laser-straight. Greazer's Garage in Lincolnton. North Carolina bathed them in a spectacular coat of '53 Cadillac single-stage. And today. this Ford is a banner showpiece that mixes the skill of experienced fabricators with the integrity of Dearborn's high quality products.

As far as detailing goes. this custom's mission is very simple. It's a nostalgic build that's meant to replicate its current owner's first hot rod; a car he constructed at the ripe old age of 15. At the front of its body. Cadillac Blue frame horns center a black spreader between a broad. chrome grille. a repurposed Moon Equipment fuel tank. bright. halogen headlights and small. aluminum fenders. Behind that grille. a smoothed Bitchin Products firewall anchors a tilting windshield between classy chrome mirrors and a small metal visor. Behind that visor. a solid steel roof hangs smoked glass above a factory decklid and traditional trunk handle. And below that handle. custom. teardrop tail lights frame a small. "HEMI POWERED" vanity plate and familiar chrome marker lamp. The car's profile combines the clean. simple look that's typical of classic. fenderless hot rods with a number of traditional touches. including correct door handles and old school bear claw hinges. And overall. its top notch build integrates the greatest attributes of both old and new into a single. unifying vision that establishes a lasting impression.

Under this Ford's aluminum hood you'll find a bored and stroked Hemis Unlimited 413 that utilizes a hydraulic roller cam. a 392 crank and H-beam connecting rods to create anywhere from 850 to 1. 00 horsepower. depending on your bravery and tuning ability. At the top of that 1956 Chrysler block. a polished. Hilborn-style scoop shoots air into two Holley 650 4-barrels that are cinched to polished stainless fuel lines and a liquid-filled Summit pressure gauge. Below those carburetors. a polished 6-71 GMC blower. provided by the fine folks at The Blower Shop. spins perfectly between polished valve covers. polished bases. polished breathers and a big. aluminum intake. At the back of that intake. a modern points distributor utilizes a chrome-dressed coil and fresh Taylor plug wires to sequentially fire eight massive cylinders. At the sides of those cylinders. black Sanderson headers jettison charred dinosaurs via familiar dumps and traditional. true-dual tail pipes. And at the front of those headers. a beefy Ford radiator cycles water through an old school Moon Equipment coolant tank. Aesthetically. the car's thoroughly detailed engine compartment is finished in the same spectacular hue as its smooth exterior panels. The killer Hemi sports a fittingly sinister coat of Hi Temp Black engine skin. And niceties such as Aeromotive fuel components. chrome brace bars and a billet transmission stick add both form and function.

In keeping with its nostalgic theme. this Ford's first class chassis was supplied by none other than the Ford Motor Company of Dearborn. Michigan. The brash Hemi's power flows into a rugged Turbo-Hydramatic 350 3-speed that shifts courtesy of Winters Performance. That stalwart transmission spins stout 4. 11 gears via a Halibrand Quickchange rear end and proven Detroit Locker differential. At the head of those heavy duty components. a boxed. '32 Ford front half wraps a transverse spring in Pete & Jake's sliders. modified Edleman. NASCAR-style hubs and Wilson Welding. Indy-style brakes. At the rear of those heavy duty components. a boxed. '31 Ford back half wraps a tough 4-link suspension in two more Pete & Jake's sliders. two more Edleman hubs and two more Wilson Welding brake drums. 2. 5-inch. true-dual exhaust pipes funnel a deep roar through polished turndowns via throaty Flowmaster Hushpower II mufflers. Outside those magnesium hubs. custom Bart wheels spin 6. 70-15 Firestone Deluxe Champions in front of 10. 00-15 Firestone cheater slicks. Every non-polished surface under this Ford has been finished. painted or undercoated to show-quality standards. And details like Holley fuel components. braided fluid lines. tubular crossmembers and a high quality transmission cooler ensure everything performs every bit as good as it looks.

Take a look inside this custom and you'll find a spectacular vinyl interior that. like the rest of the car's components. was carefully sourced and professionally installed. At the center of the cockpit. a plush. diamond-stitched bench wears sturdy Simpson seatbelts. In front of that seat. a wood-trimmed dash hangs crisp Stewart Warner gauges behind a stylish. engine-turned instrument panel. Below that dash. like-new carpet floats color-keyed mats between a chrome spoon accelerator. a long Lokar shifter and a chrome fire extinguisher. At the edge of that carpet. texture-matched side panels hang traditional chrome handles below glossy black frames. Above those panels. a thick headliner frames a delicate mirror just ahead of a small dome lamp. In front of the driver. a far out. Moon Equipment steering wheel utilizes a Woodward. NASCAR-style column to spin speed-drilled spokes around a vintage turn signal stalk. And behind the passengers. a completely upholstered trunk seats an Optima gel cell battery next to a custom. stainless fuel tank.

The sale of this awesome street rod includes a few build photos. a pile of build receipts. a stack of component manuals and a Moon Equipment scoop cover.

This super cool Ford is a rolling. roaring example of the classic. old school swagger every builder dreams about. And with its big Hemi engine. completely custom suspension and retro-chic interior. it's ready to turn all your classic car dreams into tangible reality. Why prolong enjoyment? Forget about building your own car; this coupe is available NOW. and it's a turn-key piece that's ready to rock and roll!
