Welcome to my advert for my lovely old Rover. affectionately referred to as.

"Ruby"

She is a 1969 Rover P5B V8 3500 Coupe finished in Bordeaux Red with Silver Birch Roof and Tan Leather Interior.

In effect she has only really had one owner from New.

She was bought by Mr Kenneth Harold Deardon from Clark & Gable Rover Dealers of Eastbourne on the 5th of June 1969.  

He kept the Rover until April 2011. some 42 years. nbsp;at which point it was sold to a new keeper from whom I bought her in September 2012.

Mr Deardon originally lived near Eastbourne but moved to Heacham Nr Sandringham in Norfolk which is where I travelled to to buy the Rover last year where its second keeper also lived.

In 2006 she was extensively reconditioned following a small under bonnet fire. She was as a result of the claim cattagorised as Category C repair. The work was carried out by J R Wadhams at considerable expence. I have the original quotes and bills for this work along with various other paperwork including all of the Rovers original handbooks.

I should mention I am a Rover P5 club member and true enthusiast for these cars. GHC 227G being my third. they are simply iconic !

When I bought her the interior was very tired and needed a lot of work so over the winter in 2012 I completely stripped the cabin out.

Whilst it was stripped I had new front and rear screen rubbers fitted.

All of the interior trim pieces were recovered with new tan leatherette. all the wood work has been stripped and revarnised.

All of the interior chrome trim has been carefully cleaned and polished also. The carpets were totally replaced with a brand new full Wilton set along with new underlay and sound proofing.

The seats and door cards were all stripped. re coloured and re fed and the door rubbers were also replaced. refitted and tidied to ensure water tightness and no risk of future damp getting in.

I also carefully replaced all of the FurFlex door piping.

I have merely polished the outside and believe the paintwork to be mostly original with the odd bit of remedial evidence here and there.

Exterior chrome is smart with some pitting here and there but no rust or corrosion. I have also fitted a set of white wall tyre caps which really do bring out the Silver Birch roof and I think set the car off !

 

Underneath she is sold as rock. chassis rails all fine and no major rust or corrosion. There has been some welding and repair to the sills over the years but all this is in first class condition.

Mechanically she is @*oody excellent frankly. always starts. drives beautifully and will happily motor down the road at 85mph plus for hours on end. (It was a 4/5 hour drive back from Norfolk and she didn't miss a beat !).

The electrical system is all working fine. no faults. lights. heating. warning lamps. clock etc etc all tickety boo !

 

I have two sets of keys although one is newley cut. When she passed her mot in August the only advisory was an aging tyre !

 

It has been my intention to keep her long term. certainly after the amount of work I have done. sadly though circumstance have changed and I need to let her go.

Condition wise if I were to keep her there is some rust on the lower corners of the rear doors which will require attention in the future. I have stopped the effects and sealed the areas with rust cure for now and honestly you'd have to look to see the issue in detail. Overall on close inspection there are some honest signs of aging. blistering etc etc. In fairness if you are looking for a near perfect car look elsewhere. It isn't often though you find a P5B with one owner and in such good overall and useable condition. I drive her at least 3-4 times per week in all weathers !

I also have a load of spares. fuel pumps. master cylinder. windcsreens etc etc. All parts will be included in nay sale although she doesn't need any of them so they could be sold off.

 

In summary if you are looking for a genuine P5B Coupe with lovely honest patina in what I feel is the best colour combination. look no further. This is a great car. a rare chance to buy a practically one owner car. With a few pennies spent and some more loving attention i'm certain she could become a show winner !

I'm french (and sorry for englich!) and, first, I would like to know if Rover p5b from 1969 is again to sale?
If yes, some questions : how is the rust (floor, passage of whells, echappement, ...)?, the prize is fixed?and when and where could I see the car?
