For your edification and amusement (bemusement) is this 1979 Lincoln Town Coupe. Despite what you may have heard. this is not a boat in the true sense of the word (Attempt at humor!)
I have owned this for about 6 years and poured a bunch of money into it as well as the 1988 Bentley I also have listed. This car. and the Bentley were my projects. but business moved me to Phoenix where I had no place to store the cars or work on them. My friend has a farm in Kansas which is where we were before moving. and he has kindly kept the cars under cover (and exercised regularly) for the past three years. Once again. I find myself in transit to a new location and have decided to divest myself of surplus motor vehicles. so here is a rare chance to acquire an equally rare car. There are not many of the big Lincolns left. and the 4 door outsold the 2 door almost 4 to 1. so they are getting to be scarce. and especially in this condition.
This car started out life in Utah and was a beautiful shade of brown (again humor). I decided it would look gorgeous in two-tone gold over black. and had a gentleman in Belleville. Kansas work his magic on the paint and body. He did a complete color change. and not just a quick spray job. even under the hood has been redone. So. the paint and body are in really excellent shape. The upholstery is also very good. but not perfect. the drivers seat shows a little wear but is still very presentable. mechanically the car is fine in all respects. It has very good tires with 80% tread left. a new battery will be installed upon sale of the car. The headlight doors are a bit intermittent. sometimes they decide they would rather not close. so there might be a vacuum issue somewhere.
What you do not see from the pictures is that the Landau top has a bunch of cracks at the base under the rear window. It really does need to be replaced. Once it is. the car would be really nice. As it is. it turns heads and attracts much comment. If I were to keep the car. I would replace it with a black vinyl Landau roof. Then it would really stop traffic! There is an after-market stereo in the car which is not great. and the steering wheel is a bit nasty too. but it works. so that is why there is a cover on it.
Mileage is shown at about 92. 00. I have no idea if that is based in reality or not. By the wear and tear of the interior. I would say that it is plausible that it could be true. but lets just say that the true mileage is unknown.
Inspection is easily arranged and encouraged. The car is certainly drive-able. and I would have no hesitation in driving it from where it is to where you want it to be. The only disappointment about the last of the big Lincolns is that the 400 inch engine is rather laid-back (read "Slow"!). but there was a fuel crisis going on when this one was hatched. so the big 460 was not available for that year.  Contact me thru eBAY's "Contact Seller" link if there are any questions. My friend is flexible about the car remaining where it is for a few days to give the new owner time to arrange to remove it. We will work with the new owner to facilitate transfer as much as possible. Thank you for your attention!
