1967 Chevy Chevelle Malibu 2 Door Sports Coupe SS Clone in Red

For sale is my much loved 1967 Chevy Chevelle Malibu 2 door sports coupe SS clone in Camero red with red interior.   I have owned the car since 2007 when I imported it from Florida.   The car has been exceptionally well looked after and has been kept garaged and covered throughout my ownership – the only rain the car has seen in the last 6 years has been on the rare occasions when I've been caught in a shower.

Bodywork and Paint

As you can see from the photographs. overall the bodywork and paint are in very good condition.   There are some minor imperfections (I've tried to show these in the photographs as clearly as possible) that would need some attention if you wanted to show the vehicle and make it absolutely perfect. however as the pictures show. this is a clean and straight example and a good starting point to improve further if you wanted to fully restore.   That said. the imperfections are minor and the car is ready to use and enjoy ‘as is' – it is a real head-turner and is always admired at shows I've attended.

Engine & Transmission

The car is powered by a 350Ci engine. which benefits from a number of performance upgrades that came with the vehicle from the United States.   The upgrades are a mild cam with a high performance intake manifold with recent 4 barrel Holley carburettor and finished with Cal Custom dressed accessories.   This gives the car increased power over the standard 350 engine without compromising reliability.   In the 6 years I've owned the vehicle it has been exceptionally reliable and great fun to drive with the plentiful power from the engine.

Shortly after buying the car. I fitted a 2-½ inch Magnaflow exhaust system with 3-½ inch chrome tips that exit behind the rear wheels.   These look and sound brilliant and really give the car some character.

The car has a 350 TH 3 speed Auto transmission with column shift.   In 2009. the gearbox was reconditioned. a new torque converter was fitted and the gearbox was rebuilt with a shift kit to improve gear changes.   An American car specialist. GM Automatics. Chadwell Heath. carried out this work professionally and I still have the paperwork from the garage.   The transmission has performed faultlessly with quick changes since having the work completed.

Suspension

The car has the excellent Eibach springs front and rear. which were fitted approximately 4 years ago.   The front suspension was overhauled with new bushes and shocks approximately 5 years ago shortly after I acquired the vehicle.   The suspension is in good condition and rides and handles well (a slightly firmer ride than standard).

Interior

The interior of the vehicle had been extensively refurbished before I bought it.   The seats are covered in red vinyl. which is all in excellent condition.   The car has red carpet and this too is in good condition – there are also red Chevy carpet mats front and rear.   All of the panelling within the car has also been replaced and looks very nice.  

Some very minor work is needed to complete the interior refurbishment.   The door cards (that are present) need to be screwed to the doors with a Chevy screw package.   Also the window felts and rubbers would benefit from being replaced.   Both doors would benefit from having the springs replaced.   These are all minor and relatively inexpensive jobs to make the interior 100% complete. but I have not got around to doing them.   I also have some rear interior armrests that I will include with the car and just need fitting.

The heater is not currently working and needs new heater control switches and the hoses connecting up.   I have the hoses and will include these with the vehicle.   I have not fixed this personally as I only drive the car in the warm weather.

Documentation

I Have the full V5 document present and in my name.   I also have all of the MOT certificates since I have owned the vehicle.   The speedometer shows approximately 21. 00 miles. this is supported by the MOT certificates however this is obviously fairly irrelevant on a car that is over 40 years old and has been rebuilt etc.   I also have one of the original Chevy owner's manuals and 2 sets of spare keys as well as an original set of keys.   Whilst I don't have a comprehensive ‘service history' for the vehicle. there is an assortment of receipts for various services and parts that I've purchased.   I also have some of the documentation from when I imported the car from the US.   The vehicle is tax exempt in the UK.

Summary

Whilst this car is not completely immaculate. or a fully completed example that is ready to show. it is a very straight. clean car that drives and rides really well.   It has been a real pleasure to own and I'm sure that any Chevy enthusiast would enjoy owning and driving it.   The car has been very well looked after and has always had money spent on it when needed.   It is neither cheap. easy or risk free importing such a car from the US. so this is a good opportunity to acquire a really good vehicle that is already in the country.   Viewing is welcome and highly recommended as the car really is a beauty and sounds and looks great.   Thanks for looking.
