1956 Continental Mark II. VIN C56C2369. originally ordered and owned by Rogers Hornsby. a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame. This vehicle has approximately 74. 00 original miles. All exterior stainless steel trim and chrome are very good-to-excellent condition. The hood hinges and trunk lid torsion bars have been replaced so both work perfectly. The body was repainted in the original black color by the previous owner about 14 years ago. The paint appearance is excellent.   The wheels are accented by 3 ½” WWW bias ply tires.

The original leather interior is in very good condition. The color scheme is two-tone blue and gray/green. it's hard to tell. but it works and it's the original colors. The rear seat drop-down arm rest is very good. The door panels and stainless steel trim are in very good condition. The headliner. including the four A/C escutcheons. is in very good condition. New correct dark grey carpets. purchased from Mark II Enterprises in California. have been installed over sound and heat attenuation materials. These look great and really complete the finished appearance of the interior.

The original low-mileage 368 cu. in. V8 runs well and the automatic transmission shifts normally. The carburetor was professionally rebuilt by the previous owner. The power steering and power brakes all work well.

The steel floor pans are all intact although it appears that there were some repairs made on the floor pans and in the trunk area. The repairs appeared to be made properly with steel panels and good welding techniques.

This vehicle is being sold As-Is. Where-Is. and no warranties are written or implied. A thorough inspection. including videos. was made recently by a third party inspector and may be available at a cost. This seller can provide that contact to interested buyers.

Minor disclosures but would probably want to be fixed to make this car even better:

-         Lower front-side emblems are not present and it is suspected they were never reinstalled after the repaint. These emblems are available through after-market suppliers like “Mark II Enterprises” and “Lincoln Land. ”

-        The car does not have the original wheel covers. but has later model Continental Mark series covers which look very presentable.   The 15” steel wheels are probably original.

-        The dual exhaust does not exit through the rear bumper as designed because only one bumper insert is available.

-        The gas door incorporated into the driver-side rear tail light works but will need some repairs to be perfect.

-        The front power seat operates front-to-back but not up-and-down.

-        Some dash gauges do not work but no time has been by spent by this owner to investigate why. This may be a simple electrical wiring fix. The clock works intermittently and the original Town and Country radio works but not on all stations. This may be an antenna issue. The radio antenna goes up-and-down manually.

-        All the glass is very good except for a crack in the passenger front door window.

-        The power windows work in the two doors but not the rear windows. However. there is power present to the rear window motors.

-        The air conditioning does not blow cold air but all components are present. The blowers in the trunk work and circulate air into the passenger compartment via the A/C ducts and interior escutcheons.

-        There are some minor vacuum issues in the engine compartment and some vacuum hoses likely need to be replaced.

In terms of an honest. overall condition. this vehicle falls in-between the NADA descriptions of “Low Retail Value of $23. 60” and “Average Retail Value of $34. 70. ” You really need to take a look at this one before it's gone.
