1967 Mercedes Benz 230 SL
43K-MILE 1967 MERCEDES BENZ 230 SL RELISTED: This ad was relisted because the HTML code revisions created duplicates of the many photos. making the ad load too slow. We were not able to remove this error and ebay forced us to cancel the four bids & relist the ad.
OVERALL: This 230SL is a rust-free numbers-matching original unrestored beauty. in its original paint. original chrome. original trim. original interior. original soft top & hard top. and original engine. And it's been fully documented to have an original 43K-miles over the past 46 years. It's been kept in collections by its past four owners and always expertly cared for. And it's in fantastic mechanical condition. ready to be driven & enjoyed.

SOFT TOP: The soft top is original and in beautiful condition. It has not been used much over the past 46 years because of the hardtop being fitted. There is one tiny blemish in the soft top where the storage metal contacts the top fabric but it isn't visible and doesn't detract from the overall appearance. There's nothing like an original German soft top!

HARD TOP: The original Pagoda hard top is in beautiful condition and has never been stored off the car in its 46 years. The black roof matches the black hub caps. The chrome trim around the hard top is in fantastic condition. And it's quiet when driving even at speed.

OPTIONS: The original owners chose to add bumper guards. chrome fender trims. and parking lights all around. These items are listed on the original 1967 invoice. These options add to the historical aspects of this fine 230SL.

INTERIOR: The interior in this 230SL is completely original & unmodified. exactly as you would expect to see in a 43K-mile pampered car. Caviar MB Tex seat upholstery is firm. German squareweave carpet is unblemished. and it has the optional rear jumpseat in perfect condition. Its original gray rubber floor mats are perfect (having been protected by coco mats). the headliner is perfect. and the door panels are like new. Chrome around the dash gauges & trim is bright & like new. The original AM/FM Becker Europa TR radio looks & works beautifully & the matching Becker accessory cassette tape player is hidden within the glovebox. The original keys for ignition. door locks/gas cap. & glovebox are included. Even the electric clock keeps good time. Update 27Sep13: After learning the gearshift knob is not an original we have bought an original round black knob to match the black steering wheel to keep this 230SL as authentic as possible.

REAR COMPARTMENT: The rear compartment is as pristine as the rest of the car. Gray rubber mat is perfect. original spare tire with black vinyl cover is in place. and the original tool kit is safely stored inside the spare tire. Underneath the rear mat is the original rust-free black painted metal.

CHASSIS: The underside of this 43K-mile car is beautiful & unmodified with no signs of rust or decay. The muffler was recently replaced with an NOS muffler and professionally installed by a local San Diego Mercedes Benz specialist.

ENGINE: The original 6-cylinder engine was professionally rebuilt in September 2008 by a local San Diego Mercedes Benz specialist at a cost of $17K because the owner saw gray smoke coming out from the tail pipe. Not wanting any issues with the mechanical aspects. they had it rebuilt. It runs strong. idles perfectly. and can easily get up to 75mph and drive easily with freeway traffic. It does not leak oil even after long cruises. The engine currently has 4290 miles on the rebuild.

VIN NUMBERS: As you would expect with an original 43K-mile car. it has matching VIN numbers & body panel numbers. The convertible top cover & front hood are both stamped 117. matching the last three digits of the body VIN number. The original production data cards are included with the car. confiming the VIN numbers.

OWNERSHIP RECORDS: This 1967 has a fully-documented ownership history with its four owners in New York. Georgia. & California. Included in the service paperwork are the September 1966 customer order (with options). original window sticker (with options).
