Restored & recommissioned by Rolls-Royce experts
This is an amazingly rare Long Wheel Base ("LWB") Silver shadow. 1 of only 10 ever built. Four such cars were built for the English Royal Family and another 6 special order built for VIPs and dignitaries. Only half of these were left-hand drive. This is one of those very special cars and we believe this is the only one in the United States. They offer considerable more "limousine feel" than later model Silver Shadow Long Wheel Base Rolls-Royces because of their interior design. The slimmer front seats provide notably increased rear leg room and with no headrests. nbsp;the interior is much roomier.
This special example is very handsomely restored by Park-Ward Motors in 2-tone Shell Grey over Tudor Grey with ebony hides and hand painted black fine-lines on the waist-rails and hubcap beauty rings. The colour combination is quintessentially Rolls-Royce and contrasted with the black Connolly hides. simply looks stunning by its formality.

This gorgeous LWB Silver Shadow has just recently undergone considerable refurbishment by The Park-Ward Motor Museum. The paint job is stunning and was a bare metal respray of some $20. 00 and carried out by Park-Ward's experienced Rolls-Royce body-shop. The paint is perfect without a single stone-chip. scratch or mark - not a single one - and the finish is superb.
When the car was repainted it was completely stripped of all fittings and windows out. Every piece of stainless steel was removed and machined buffed and then hand-polished before final assembly so they look stunning. This includes the grill. headlight brows. rocker spears. hubcaps and minor finishers. Even the door-jam stainless sill moulds were removed during the painting process and machined buffed. When refitted. many new rubbers. gaskets and seals were used. The black single fine-lines (in keeping with factory specification) were painted by steady-hand & the finest squirrel brush. in accordance with the Rolls-Royce tradition.
The interior is amazingly immaculate and of virtual brochure quality.
The African burl walnut wood is immaculate with the dash face. console. top-roll dash-pad finisher. window finishers. all 4 doors. rear seat picnic tables and rear vanity mirrors having been recently redone by Park-Ward's own craftsmen. The process was done at considerable cost and in accordance with the Rolls-Royce "multi-layer lacquering technique" which involves painstaking wet sanding and buffing by hand between coats - no less than 25! The final finish on the wood is to the factory specification "satin" finish and is simply stunning (should you prefer the full gloss look. we can do this for you).
The leather is 100% original and absolutely lovely with no tears or cracks and presents beautifully without even having been re-Connollised or re-dyed. It is factory virgin! Any line or marks you see in the photos are the natural creases synonymous with Connolly hide leather. The leather remains incredibly soft and supple which is almost impossible to see on these Silver Shadows these days. The carpets are also the original factory Wilton wool fitments and are in excellent condition. The headlining and rear parcel shelf in the car is brand new Broad-cloth wool in light grey specially ordered in from the UK for this car and is an exact match of the factory fitment. All glass and interior finishes are in wonderful condition.
All features and functions are working; electric windows. electric seats etc. The air conditioning system is fully serviced and blows icy cold. Many new electrical items were replaced and serviced. For example. 4 brand new headlights of the correct period style lens were fitted. These were over $400 as opposed to less than $50 for common replacements. It is this attention to detail that makes Park-Ward Motors very different to others. And our sign of committment to the faithful preservation of the marque.
Mechanically. this Silver Shadow is a very fine example. It has been fully workshop inspected with anything required doing. attended to by Park-Ward's Rolls-Royce mechanics and craftsmen. The engine is smooth and quiet and the steering light but tight. Important costly items such as the hydraulics and brakes were all fully inspected and serviced as required. This included full cleaning and of the reservoir and flushing the system. brake pumps. new accumulators. checking of all calipers. rotors and brake hoses (servicing as required) and system pressure tested and bled. Many other serviceable parts were replaced and items attended to and repaired as needed. It is ready to drive and enjoy.
This Silver Shadow drives particularly well. considerably quieter and smoother than you would normally expect for any other Shadow of this era. Mileage is not verifiable but commensurate with the car's pre-restoration condition. The white-wall tyres fitted to the car were also a special order by Park-Ward to ensure it was in keeping with the cross-ply polyester style tyres used by Rolls-Royce back in 1967. Right down to the width of the whitewall. These are H78-15 reproduction period correct tyres and they are brand new. They look and drive fantastic.
All features. functions and electrics have been checked right down to the smallest and insignificant dash and courtesy light. The car has its original push-button radio. Tee summary of work and cost is as follows:

When our Rolls-Royces are commissioned for resale. they are indeed professionally and correctly “fully work-shopped”. No corners are cut. And it is all addressed in true Crewe tradition. There is way too much to list here but to give you an example of our commitment to excellence of the various processes. this is one such example of what we do:
Doors and windows:-
Every car has its interior door panels removed. If the wood is in need of repair (as most are) it is refinished in-house by trained and talented craftsmen at Park-Ward Motors. This is a detailed process of stripping the wood of its old lacquer. repairing the veneer if there is damage. staining the top surface as per Rolls-Royce methodology and refinishing with no less than 25 coats of clear lacquer. Hand wet-sanded and polished between all of its last 15 coats. New window felt guides and wood-to-glass foam seals are fitted. All window mechanisms are checked and serviced for smooth and efficient up and down movement. This includes an electrical modification to rectify the typical “slow window syndrome”. All tracks. chains and gears are lubricated. Where central locking is fitted. these are all serviced to ensure no “solenoid sticking”. another common problem. Units are repaired and or changed as required for refurbished units. Door wiring and door-to-body wiring is checked. repaired and/or replaced as required. The splash plastic on the inside of the doors to protect the leather panels from rain splash from inside the door is replaced with correct specification black plastic as used by the factory. Cut to shape and glued in position as per original. All door hardware is checked and repaired as required including locks. handles and scuttle finishes. The door is reassembled with all items cleaned and polished. The wood refitted and the leather panels are re-Connollised before final fitment.

By comparison. my cars are generally superior to others available but they are by no means perfect. You must expect some issues. Similarly. cruise control systems fitted to these classics were of an inferior design and I do not check or warrant the operation of these. Suspension and brakes on these cars are complex. We thoroughly check them and replace things that are identified faulty. But please understand. by example; if we change a brake line because it appears aged or faulty. we do NOT at the same time replace all other hoses because they are of similar age. This is considered "preventative maintenance". We do not do this unless specifically requested and is not included in the purchase price. Feel free to ask for this additional service. Further. a feature or function that is working perfectly one moment. may decide to play-up the next. After all. it is some 25 years old. This is the nature of any classic car and especially a Rolls-Royce which was very "complicated" for its era. For this reason it is necessary for the following condition:

I am sorry if these terms seem harsh but there seem to be some very unrealistic buyers out there - fortunately. only few of these people exist but those that do can make life difficult. so it appears EVERYTHING needs to spelled out. Very simply put. this is an old car being offered for sale. It is not new and is subject to the perils of age. Further. Rolls-Royces are not without nuances. idiosyncrasies and they are renown for a host of design issues which can make them not inexpensive to maintain. This is well documented in many circles. You need to be a special and considerate type of purchaser to own a Rolls-Royce. Their down-side is part of the fun in owning them! As the old saying goes; "we love to hate them and hate to love them!" So. please respect the terms and conditions when you bid.

Rolls-Royce values vary wildly. entirely dependent on their condition. There are. of course. other aspects that add or subtract from their values – Long Wheel Base versus regular. the year which dictated certain technical changes. etc. Rarity is the biggest driving factor.
