Extremely Rare 1975 Citroen CX 2200 in beautiful condition

This car oozes french charm.   It draws admiring looks wherever it goes and is in quite stunning condition.   It is an extremely rare Series 1 Citroen CX 2200 first registered in 1975.   It is very unlikely you will see another like it.   The bodywork and underside are almost immaculate with only a few very small marks. but absolutely no rust. anywhere.   The car comes with an amazing and extensive service history and provenance. that includes its original french owners manual. and a file of french receipts.   Among the British paperwork are receipts for over 30 Dinitrol and Waxoil cans and every panel anywhere you look on the car is covered in the stuff; inside the doors. in the engine bay. behind the carpet in the boot. wings you name it.

The engine runs very smoothly indeed. with the manual choke being needed only for a very short time on a cold start.   Tick over is lovely and quiet in the cabin when you are driving. Cruising at 70mph is smooth and very quiet; it is a lovely relaxing drive.   The interior is in outstanding condition as well. with no fading to the wonderfully period upholstery and a very clean and unmarked headliner.   There is a small crack in the driver's arm rest.   The upholstery appears to be in near to mint condition. there is a lovely period map light on the passenger side. a very unusual and rare dash tray (have you ever seen one before?) It has front and rear fog lights. and the unmistakable rear screen louver - so 70's!  There is also a rather rare twin wiper and those rare full-wheel caps.   Front electric windows work smoothly and quickly from the switches on the centre console.   A full set of correct rear seatbelts has been fitted to allow the safe carrying of three rear passengers. or with two they can share the pull-down centre armrest.

The suspension works perfectly. rising quickly and carrying you in supreme comfort over even the roughest roads.   It has been said that the ride is close to traveling on a cloud. I'd not go that far. but I drive over a railway crossing everyday and hardly feel it. whereas in my previous car I had to slow right down and take it very gingerly.

This car has been featured in a 7 page article in Classics Monthly earlier this year. and is understood to be the cover car for a new hardback book coming out this autumn all about Citroens. at which point this will be a famous little french beauty. and will increase in value.

This car is very rare. and is the third oldest Citroen CX in the UK. and may well be the oldest roadworthy example.   The five tyres are the correct Michelin's with almost new tread on them.   The engine and gearbox oil have been changed about 4 weeks ago. it has a new alternator fitted and a new plastic fuel tank.   At some point in its life the car has also been fitted with a Lumenition ignition system which works faultlessly.

It comes with a full 12 months of MOT.

Built in 1975. it spent the first fourteen years of its life in France (lots of original french receipts).   Imported into the UK in 1991 it has had two owners in that time. so I believe I am the fourth owner in total.

I strongly recommend you come and view the car.   The only fault is an occasional synchro issue when changing from 2nd to 3rd but the the car comes with a new clutch and spare gearbox. so should the new owner wish. a transfer would be easily done.   I drive the car daily and this does not worry me.   The car is advertised elsewhere. so I reserve the right to end the auction early.   I am happy to work with the buyer if they want to export the car or bid from abroad. but would appreciate contact before.   Deposit of £50 by paypal please. with remainder by cash on collection or cleared cheque prior to collection.
