For sale is my fathers 1964 MK1 Cortina GT historic rally car. This is the real deal with FIA PAPERS/RAC LOGBOOK and a huge build spec. To make things clear this is an out and out rally car and although road legal (MOT till May 2014 and road tax exempt) was built to go flat out through a forest and is not a wanna be bog standard car with a couple of spotlights and a big bore exhaust fitted used to take the Mrs to tesco. The car has a huge spec and includes. 590 pre crossflow engine with small mileage since rebuildKent cam. alanced crank. nife edged and polished webs. ightened and balanced con rods. ccralite forged competition pistons. win webber carbs. 2000E 3 rail gearbox with Trans x straight cut gears and Milton shift. Trans x Limited slip diff. Twin coils. Twin electric fuel pumps. Four branch manifold. Recored radiator with large header tank and electric fan. Front spotlights/reverse light. Six point Safety Devices rollcage. Minilight wheels X6 (currently fitted with gravel tyres). Fuel cell (located in boot). Strut brace. Sump guard. New OMP seats fitted with TRS harness's. Brantz tripmeter. Plumbed in fire extinguishers. Dual circuit brakes. Perspex windows (except front screen). Passenger foot rest. Helmet net. Map light. Lightened bootlid and doors.
My father has had this car since 2009 and due to serious health reasons it has been sat in the garage. As you can see it is a hell of a piece of kit. ts been there done it and got the T shirt. ts NOT a show car its a very competitive rally car with many top 10 finishes and class wins. The car is well known in the HRCR and has been driven by a well known driver. Set up for stage rallying but could easily be converted for road or track events. The car is reluctantly for sale but if it doesnt sell for what its worth it will going back in the garage and covered up. ts a better investment than money in the bank as these cars continue to rise in price rapidly and this is a genuine 2 door GT.
