Technical specifications, photos and description:
In 1985. nbsp;John Goss and Armin Hahne driving a TWR Jaguar XJS won at Bathurst.
My roadgoing TWR JaguarSport XJS was built one year later by TWR in their factory in Kidlington. Oxforshire. This was before the joint venture company with Jaguar was formed.
These early. fully specified TWR models are very rare and are still fast cars even today.
TWR sold literally just a handful of the fully optioned 6. 0 litre models. as they were for the very fortunate few.
A road test in the June 1985 issue of Fast Lane magazine (copy of which is in the vehicle history file) shows that when originally built. nbsp;a V12 6. 0 litre TWR with the manual gearbox was as expensive as a comparable Ferrari or Aston Martin. Some believe that this is the car that Jaguar should have built.
Most ' TWR' cars that are around only have the bodykit fitted. and only a very small number have the 6. 0 litre tuned V12 engine. even fewer have the 5 speed ZF manual gearbox as well.
According to the TWR option list (that comes with the Jaguar in the history file). this car has everything.
The specification includes:
TWR tuned 6. 0 litre V12 engineTWR ZF 5 speed manual gearbox conversionTWR Suspension (lowered and stiffened)TWR / AP Racing front brakes with ventilated rear discsTWR rear mufflers. with the 4 tailpipe exhaustTWR steering wheelTWR Bodykit and 'black chrome' finishTWR Power steering kit (re-valved for more steering feedback)TWR 'flat faced' alloy wheels (not currently fitted. but come with the car)TWR 200MPH speedo
She also has an AJ6 Enginering Ram Plenum induction kit for even greater performance. Roger Bywater of AJ6 Engineering states that they discontinued the Ram Induction kit as it was too costly to market. but that it did deliver a very worthwhile boost to the power output.
This is a serious classic road car and would also make a terrific Targa car as well (although it would be a shame to convert her).
Recent work has included an engine service with new oils. filters. plugs etc. a new gearbox mounting. new battery. wiper motor rebuilt and a new clutch slave cylinder.
The Jaguar comes with the TWR flat faced alloy wheels (the cross spokes currently on the car were fitted by a previous owner). a history file which contains an original TWR JaguarSport price list and specifications. TWR single page brochure. the copy of the 1985 Fast Lane magazine and old invoices etc. The original Owners Handbook and tools are also with the Jaguar.
This is a very collectable Jaguar and a fantastic Grand Tourer. with an agreed insurance value in excess of the asking price.
Only being offered as my other car hasn't found a new home as yet - although I might be interested in an XJC in part trade (subject to any eBay conditions).
Please note that the mileage is in miles. not kilometers and that she is currently on Victorian Club rego and this is not transferable. However. the Jaguar comes with the necessary Vehicle Import Approval to allow for full or club rego.
Inspection is welcomed by appointment and I will be happy to answer any questions.
I'd also be happy to help with the arrangements for any shipping for export. should there be interest from outside of Australia.
The Jaguar is also advertised elsewhere and may be removed before the end of the auction.
Below is a link to a video of Tom Walkinshaw driving at Mt Panorama in 1985. Great to watch him in the racing version and see him drive straight by one of the BMW 6 Series!
