1959 Chevrolet Other Pickups Napco Apache

1959 Chevrolet Napco 4X4 Fleetside Bed Big Back Window V8 Pickup Truck.

This truck started life in Montana and then was acquired a couple years ago by an older gentleman who lived in MT and Washington State.   I purchased the truck from him last year.  He told me was the V8. was a Pontiac 336 – it does run. This is the first Napco I have owned so I don't claim to be an expert. more into the Dodges. I thought it would be nice to rehab/restore something different but have had second thoughts for two reasons: 1) it's too nicely patina up to restore and 2) I need to stick other pursuits.

Overall. the truck is in darn good condition for an almost 60 year old truck.  There are plenty of dents. dings. scratches. as well as a ton of patina.  Under no circumstance is it a rust bucket. In fact. the only notable rust is on the rears of front fenders where the mounting bracket has "cracked" the sheet metal. I understand this was/is the common issue. Please see photos. Of course there is surface rust since it's in original condition but there is no rot and the frame appears in fine condition.  I have not polished the paint or clear-coated anything. it's in original condition. The original bed straps are intact although the wood strips are rotted. It is nice that no one welded a piece of steel plate over the top in the bed. All the tires hold air. The Napco tags are on the axles. this is not a "homemade" 4x4 conversion. Yes. it has Warn hubs.

The cab is in great shape. please see photos. There is actually paint on the floors so they are solid. The seat is in decent/good shape. The heater is present. I believe the PO said it worked but I have not tried it since I purchased the truck. The driver's closes easily as the hinges are in good shape.   Passenger door striker needs to be reworked. it sticks open sometimes. The dash is complete and most original knobs are present. The "baseball diamond" gauge cluster is in tact and the PO said the gauges worked - no promises here. The truck will need an ignition switch. I drove it on/off the trailer last year we had to wire to the coil/battery. Also. we got brakes into it with some fluid and some pumping. The truck will run but it will need at bare minimum a major tune-up. The remains of what appears to be the original exhaust is still hanging there. The air cleaner is missing (it got lost in transport). The passenger window was cracked and then broken by an errant football in November when I had loaded it to take to the shop. I have some miscellaneous parts. trim. a radio (I think) that will also go with the truck. I cleaned off the under carriage.

To make this clear. this is a project. it will require work and parts.   That said it is a solid base on a pretty rare truck.   Remember this truck is nearly 60 years old. you can not drive it home.   It does not have a good battery.   I'm not a car salesman. so please ask questions and I will do my best to answer.  

I may regret selling this truck but it has sat for almost a year and it needs a new home.
