1957 corvette gasser project/driver for sale
Current customer rating: (792 votes ) based onThis is a hardtop convertible (no soft top)
Some modifications to the car include: removal of fender scoops. emoval of fuel tank door. (tank is filled thru fuel tank neck located under the lid behind the seats). The car has an Oldsmobile rear end (lower geared than original corvette rear) It also has traction bars installed. The Transmission is a Muncie 4 speed.
The engine is a rebuilt Chevrolet 350 with a Edelbrock performer intake and Edelbrock 4 bbl Carb manual choke and Edelbrock air cleaner. The Engine was rebuilt 5 years ago and has less than 200 miles on it. It runs real good. The rebuild included New rod and main bearings. new seals. New flattop pistons and rings. re-sized rods. new timing chain and gears. new stock camshaft and bearings. new hydraulic lifters and push rods. It also had a new water pump and starter installed. A new aluminum radiator was also installed. A new flywheel. clutch. new pressure plate and Throwout bearing also was installed at the same time. Also installed a new after market duel exhaust from the manifold back.
The car currently has a light weight after market hood installed with hood pins. An excellent used original 57 hood is included with the sale.
The Chrome is in real good shape with exception of the Door posts which have some moderate pitting and should be re-chromed. Also one of the exhaust bezels has some light pitting.
The interior of the car is in real good condition. Carpets are good and seats are in excellent condition. no tears or holes in the vinyl seats.
The car has an aftermarket radio/cassette player made to fit the 57 corvette dash with no modifications. It is connected to the original speaker in the dash. Some gauges are not original. Speedometer and Tack are original. The speedometer does not work as it needs a cable assembly made to fit the corvette speedometer and the Muncie 4 speed. The original cable assembly will not connect to the Muncie. The paint is old but shines good with some chips and scratches. Hardtop needs some paint work and rear window installed.
The car has reproduction 57 wheels and the hubcaps are not the 57 design. They have spinners with a corvette logo in the center. It also has older bias ply wide wall tires. Heaters were optional in 57 and this one has no heater.
Spare parts included in sale: Used good windshield to replace the one on the car which is cracked. used origanal 57 hood in excellent condition. Replacement plexiglass rear glass for the hardtop. Used complete Chevrolet rear end to replace the Olds rear end if one wanted to ( it will probably need some work. It came with the car when I bought it)
Parts missing: Outside Drivers door button. nbsp; Wiper motor and cables ( the wipers and transmissions are there).
