SELLER REMARKS

Cars like this 1968 Mustang GT fastback inevitably come down to numbers. Well. the fact is. this is a real S-code 390/4-speed car restored about 20 years ago and still a fantastic piece of FoMoCo muscle. Documented with a Marti report. it's the kind of car you can enjoy on the street. spin the tires a bit. and still call it an investment.

The original color was Presidential Blue. but during the restoration it was given a coat of black that always looks right on a Mustang fastback. The work was really. really well done because it has aged beautifully. and while it may not be a candidate for "best paint" these days. it looks fantastic for its age and shows that kind of wholesome patina that you just can't buy from a body shop. A contrasting white C-stripe adds some drama to the black flanks. and if this car was ever damaged the repairs are invisible. A Boss 429 style hood scoop was installed some time back. and while it's not technically correct. nobody can argue that it doesn't look intimidating on this '68. which is perfectly in line with its 390 cubic inch attitude. Chrome and trim are also nicely preserved. including the GT fog lamps up front in the grille. and it all looks of a piece so nothing stands out as either too new or too old. And Ford fans will note the "Tasca" badge on the rear valence. a nod to Tasca Ford and its performance legacy.

The black bucket seats are from a slightly newer Mustang (say. a '69) and as a result they look right at home in this black pony. Add a wood-rimmed wheel and a removable center console/armrest and you have a very comfortable yet classically sporty environment in which to get some serious driving done. The instrument panel is now full of Auto Meter instruments that look like they were made for the Mustang's dash. and there's now an AM/FM/CD stereo head unit in the original AM radio's slot. Hurst supplied one of their shifters for the 4-speed and you'll hear the echoes of the "Bullitt" soundtrack as you wind it through the gears. There's also a fresh plaid mat in the trunk with nothing unpleasant hiding underneath.

The engine is a correct S-code 390 cubic inch V8 which has been recently and comprehensively detailed. Ford Blue engine enamel seems to glow in the black engine bay and bright chrome valve covers and an open-element air cleaner add a bit of sparkle to the burly V8. Monte Carlo bars reinforce the shock towers and frame the air cleaner (which wears correct reproduction decals). and long-tube headers dump into a brand new Flowmaster dual exhaust system that sounds phenomenal. There's also a brand new driveshaft feeding the original 9-inch rear which Kevin Marti says is full of 3. 25 gears. The body is reinforced with subframe connectors that make a noticeable difference from the driver's seat. and you'll note that the floors are solid and clean. Original GT styled steel wheels remain and carry 215/70/14 blackwalls for a subtle look.

Documented with a Marti Report and original build sheet. this real-deal 390 GT is the one you've always wanted. Give us a call today!
