Ford Cortina Mk1 1966 Stunning Modification Hot Rod Pinto NEW MOT,DO NOT MISS

Here I have on offer another fine car. please check my feedback I pride myself on an honest detailed service and description. all of my cars are HPI clear and come with a full invoice of sale.

THE STORY

GHT 930D was registered back on 1st April 1966 in BRISTOL. then Somerset. the best I can gather is that this car was in the UK throughout and if nothing else according to the tax disc ended up in North London in 2009 at least. At some stage in 2010 it was exported to Guernsey in the Channel Islands. at this point the car was most likely to already have had extensive modifications. however further improvement/modification was carried out in Guernsey. This car has only been brought back to the UK by me on behalf of a friend owing to the very limited market in Guernsey for a car of this importance. some of you may have noticed the car advertised recently from Guernsey. it is now with me here in Lincolnshire allowing easier viewings. Please ignore the Guernsey plate shown in the ad. the car now has a brand new UK MOT and will have the v5 original plates and free classic tax disc within the next few days.

MY KNOWLEDGE

Very Limited.

I can tell you the description of the car from top to tail. tell you about what has been done according to information I have received and tell you how it drives. This car has been at my office in Melton Mowbray for 3 days during which I have had people crossing the street and in true awe of this oustanding retro conversion offering not only great interest but also nostalgia. I am. however no expert in either retro Ford engines nor classic cars.

WHAT WAS THE CAR ?

This car back in April 1966 as a straightforward 1. 5 Cortina Super 5dr. much has changed.

THE MODIFICATIONS ?

A purist may scan the car and whilst looking over his specs may query the alterations. This car has had a fortune spent and this has been according to the person who made those decisions. there is no standard wheels. no 60's beige or duck egg paintwork. no AM radio and no pea shooter exhaust. there is a vast market for that and this car does not proclaim nor attempt to satisfy this position. The person who did this conversion did so with a great eye for detail. performance and style. it still. however has the scope for you to enhance this or put on your own mark.

MECHANICS ?

This car is now fitted with a large stainless steel exhaust and a 2. 0 Pinto Engine. hat I know is Kent Cam Shaft. Electronic Ignition. Electronic Fuel Supply. New Type q 5 speed gearbox. New Clutch. New Clutch Bearing. Capri Rack and Pinion Steering. Adjustable Front Shocks. Disc Brakes all round. Kenlowe Fan. Mk1 rear Axle rebuilt. New Half shaft bearings. New Fuel Tank. Push Button Start.

HOW DOES SHE PERFORM AND DRIVE ?

As well as a great car to parade/promenade. polish and enjoy I would suggest she has vast track potential. this car roars to a start and feels very quick and lively indeed. the uprated brakes and 5 speed box give a little hint of modern "must haves" in a retro shell. Perhaps with these carbs and this lump this car can go even furher but it feels incredible already. the steering leaps a bit at vast speeds. but of course it will. bad manners go with the territory.

THE INTERIOR ?

A very great stylish upgrade indeed. high quality leather sports seats front and rear. not just grabbed out of some scrap yard golf. clearly properly trimmed and made to look and fit the part. The carpets are new and damage free. the dashboard has been colour coded with all the extra dials and guages. right now the fuel guage has a mind of its own and so does the speedo. the odometer shows 67. 00 it could well be quite genuine. who knows.

THE BODYWORK

This car has clearly had extensive work from the floor up. my honest opinion is that it was done in very recent years. however being outside for little periods has allowed a few bits to deteriorate ever so slightly. so. not rotten. still stunning but a few little blemishes here and there. ignore it for five years at your peril. do some bits in the next year or so keep it clean and dry stored and you should have a very long term solid example.

The MOT showed a small hole in the L/H boot floor. looked like results of a clumsy drain plug. now cured and did not fail anyway. the front chassis had two little crusty bits. again did not fail and now cured.

The body is in a gorgeous and very "2013" pearly white. however what might not be so clear is the central section is a cream colour (i. e the middle band) this looks awesome.

I can only seek as I find. there are some failings. it goes without saying that you will coime and look at this car before buying despite the ad. therefore I will try and be as transparent as possible.

One wing has bubbles behind the headlight and at joint. these have not yet penetrated the paint. this is also the case low down and adjacent to door. in my opinion this does not warrant a replacement just a sensitive repair/treatment prior to re-paint. this said it is only noticeable close up. Two doors are showing some bulging low down. again a simple treatment. certainly not a replacement. Inside the boot lid there is some surface rust. quite bizzare and easily curable.

There are some very slight imperfections near some windows rubbers. this is vastly down to the perished rubbers not the paint. The chrome on the rear bumper has some slight lumps. not pits or holes.

This car will not win a show at the moment but would easily participate with multiple gasps from the admiring crowds. £300-£5oo in my opinion and it will get awards ???

OVERVIEW

A truly rare opporunity not to be missed. the vast glares and glances in the street at my office says to me this is something rare and special.

THE PRICE

You cannot put a true price on something this unique. quite franlky this car is worth a fortune in bits not to mention the engine. however that would be like demolishing your house so that you can have a bigger garden !!

Rather than field vast numbers of questions about "What will you take ? etc" I have put on a buy it now very tightly aligned with a reserve price. this makes it affordable. however by no means a give away reflecting this unique opportunity and respect for the work undertaken to date. it is my desire for this car to end up in the hands of a true enthusiast.
