Up for auction is a South African assembled Ranchero (Falcon XY) built to look like a GT.  She is currently registered on NSW Historic Plates
Originally delivered as a 302 V8 with 3 on the tree. the 302 has been changed to a 351C 2V motor.  An original aluminium shaker hood has been fitted to complete the GT look from the front.  The original 3 speed auto and diff have been retained. but both have just been completely rebuilt as new.  The motor is strong with no oil leaks or smoke.  The carburettor has just been refurbished with a new kit.  A new dual exhaust system has been fitted with cross-over.  It is pretty loud. and may need additional mufflers fitted depending on which state the car goes to and whether it goes on Historic or full Rego.
We have just spent almost $900 sorting out the steering and suspension.  It is all good. drives and tracks straight.  The rear springs have been lowered by an inch with solid spacers between the springs and diff.  The brakes are good.

The interior is pretty neat with the original bench seat which has been recovered in period vinyl at some stage.  Carpets have been fitted in place of the original vinyl mats.  The dash is good with one crack in it. All electrics work with the exception of the reverse lights (not connected).  The fuel and temperature gauges have been replaced with new ones.
The South African Ranchero has a sliding rear window which is a handy feature not available on the locally delivered cars. I have fitted a brand new tonneau cover. and the ute will come with a new windscreen seal and rear tailgate rubber which have not been fitted yet.  I have fitted new inner and outer window weatherstrips. new front indicator lenses and other odds and ends.
The body has been redone but not to very high standards.  The floors are solid with no rust except at the front guards leading up to the firewall.  They have been poorly patched in the past and covered with fibreglass.  The size of the affected areas are approximately 20cm x 30 cm on each side.  The rest of the body is presentable but will probably need some attention.  The sills and lower guards have signs of bog. but I can't verify how much or how bad they were before the repairs.
I have tried to be as honest as possible with my descriptions.  Mechanically the car is virtually 100%.  She drives well and pulls like a steam train.  The bodywork os presentable and doesn't look too bad from a few meters.  It is acceptable as it is. but ideally will need the bodywork to be looked at.
Please feel free to ask me any questions.
Happy Bidding!
PS:  More photos are available on request as eBay only allows 12 photos to be loaded.  I have detailed photos of the floor area that I can email.
PSS:  I reserve the right to cancel the auction early as the vehicle is advertised elsewhere.
