BMW Z1 for sale

Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.15) based on 355 votes
FOR SALE: A rare UK supplied Z1 with 24k miles and an excellent history file.

EQUIPMENT
GB specification. Electrically retractable vertical doors. Alloy wheels. Dark grey cowhide leather. Pioneer CD player. PAS. Electric windows. Electric mirrors. BMW chamois leather. Tracker. Private licence plate.

EXTERIOR
The ‘Top Red' paintwork on this Z1 is in excellent order with no scuffs or scratches and being an entirely plastic body. rust is not a factor. It has a beautiful deep shine and all of the trim badges and grilles look like new. retaining their correct black finish. Being a UK supplied car from new. the side indicators (compulsory for UK roads but not fitted in Europe) were fitted in the correct position by the factory unlike other imported Z1s which required the indicators retrofitting and as such locations varied. It is unbelievable to think when looking at this car that it is a 20 year old design that incorporated integrated bumpers with the rear silencers built in to aid aerodynamics.

The doors on this Z1 work perfectly and retract quickly with the window dropping swiftly and the structure of the door disappearing into the sill. The headlights are crystal clear and free from even the lightest peppering of stone chips. This is the same for the wing mirrors which are perfectly designed into the body and hung on the A pillar to aid in the distinctive design and aerodynamics of the Z1.

INTERIOR
The retractable doors are clearly a major highlight and once this fascination has passed. it's time to work out exactly the best way to get into the Z1. The first attempt can be a bit tricky. but with a couple of maneuvers it becomes second nature. Once inside the driver is firmly held in place with some excellent sports seats. trimmed in dark grey cowhide. It's an exciting place to be with the Z1 specific steering wheel. motorbike inspired instruments and hanging style mirrors. not to mention. the lack of doors. All the essential controls fall exactly to hand as any good sports car should and anything non essential has been left off the options list. The quality of the trim is excellent and everything that can be trimmed in leather has. including the dashboard and sun visors. Thanks to the low mileage and sparing use everything is in first rate order and all the controls work as they should.

There is a neat storage compartment behind the passenger seat and plenty of head room even with the roof up. The boot area is spotless and holds the spare wheel. tool kit and a tailored indoor car cover. The convertible roof is in fine order. it manually stows away with ease and speed fitting neatly out of sight.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
This low mileage Z1 benefits from an excellent service history. showing light use and regular service work. This is fully up to date with the last service being done in October 2012 which included the all important cambelt change. The car performs exactly as it should. providing an exhilarating ride with good performance. Opening the bonnet you are greeted with the familiar sight of the 2. 5 straight 6 fitted to many BMW's of the era. the engine and compartment are spotlessly clean.

WHEELS. TYRES & BRAKES
The alloys are all in their original paint finish and free from any curb marks or scratches. They are all shod in good quality tyres. all of which show minimal wear. The brakes are in fine working order. pulling the car quickly to halt. The brake fluid has just been serviced.

HISTORY FILE
This example was first registered in August 1991 and is 1 of only 86 cars that were produced for the UK market.

The service history is excellent and all stamped in the original UK Z1 service book. There are 10 stamps in total. the first 9 are all BMW main dealers and the last by a well known BMW specialist. This last service was in October 2012 at 24. 27 miles and included having the cambelt replaced.

The history file contains all of the MOT's from new to fully verify the low mileage. most of the tax disks and lots of BMW dealer receipts detailing service work and replacement parts. The original BMW document pack is also present with all the manuals and there is even the original UK sales brochure and a complementary BMW chamois leather still sealed in its bag. A tracker is also fitted which can be transferred over into the new owners name.

The car comes with a personalised registration plate.
