1968 Austin Mini Cooper S Mk2 (Ex Manchester Police Car) for sale

1968 Austin Mini Cooper Mk2 with a valid MOT until 12/2013.

This is a matching numbers car with heritage certificate.

It was first despatched on the 7th November 1968 by Lookers Limiter to the Manchester Police Department.

Its original colour is Police White (monotone) and was changed to Almond Green. with a Snowberry White roof around 2002. The suspension was also changed to dry then.

In June 2006 the engine head was rebuilt and fitted with bronze valve guides and hardened valve seats. A complete RC40 exhaust system and Electronic ignition were also fitted.

This car is equipped with Hi-Low suspension cones. a Quick-shift gear lever and Minispares 4 pot alloy calipers.

It's equipped with a set of Yokohama A008 tyres and shock absorbers which have been used for less than 1000 miles and look like new.

It keeps its original AEG312 Engine block and all other parts.

When I returned to Portugal. around 2007. I brought it with me. converted it to LHD. registered it and got a Portuguese number plate from 1968.

Last year I changed the speedometer so it reads in KM/H (it also shows MPH). That is why it only shows 617 KM in it.

The car has always been stored in a garage and therefore in pretty good condition. The engine is in excellent condition!

Both front and rear subframes are straight and without damage.

I have sold the original speedo around 6 months ago but. if you want to convert it back to RHD. you may keep the one which is fitted as it also shows MPH. I have a new RHD steering rack which I include if necessary. You should also fit RHD lens in that case.

The old number has NOT been marked as exported and the old number could be used if brought back to the UK.

The only reason for selling is that I need the money to complete my other projects.

The car is in Lisbon. Portugal. so collection must be arranged. I'll probably be able to give the contacts of a couple of companies that do that.
