1933 Chevrolet HotrodI bought this rod and imported it myself a few years ago but have never really done much with (In fact I have only ever driven it four times from memory) . It is an original California Hiboy and has been for many years. I bought it off an older guy who lives in the orange belt in California who owned it for a long period of time. He (the owner) tried to trace it's history back as far as he could and the registration went back as far as the 60's. It started out as a SoCal rod then went to Texas for some time and ended up back in California. This car is a steel 33 Chev body on an original 32 Ford chassis. The rear gaurds are fibreglass though. The wheels are Astros. It has the typical 350 small block with TH350 transmission and a Chevrolet 10 Bolt differential. The drive train seems solid exept the trans needs a new sump gasket. The good thing about the Deuce chassis is that the nasty Chevrolet parallel leaf spring set up is no longer and it has the typical Ford front end in it which for my money is a lot better.  Things that need attention: The doors have kind of sagged on the rod which is how I got it and a fairly typical woe on old coupes. The old owner had some internal door braces which he said would fix this if I re installed them which come with the car but for my money the hinges probably need to be reconditioned. The side glass is not in the doors as I believe the old owner intended to replace the bracing rods but the glass is there for the doors. The interior is fairly basic with only a bench seat and no headlining or door cards. The internal frame of the vehicle is still the original wood but it is in good condition. The photos depict it the day I got it and how it sits now. I simply don't have the time to put into this vehicle and as I have other rods something has to go. Other stuff: Anyone who has ever tried to import an old rod from the USA will inevitably tell you the same story: IT WAS HELL. I agree. DOTARS in Canberra does not like hotrods and make no secret of the fact. The last time I looked at their examples of vehicles barred entry to Australia every example depicted was a hotrod. I have imported 4 rods over the years from the US and every one was hell to the point that I'll never try to import another. The only way I got my rods in was by following their own guidelines - and even then they tried to deny my vehicles entry! I'm not kidding. The moral of my story here is this is a genuine old school rod from back in the day which is something no fibreglass rod no matter how beautiful can claim and as such will only appreciate in value as it is the real deal. When they made movies like American Graffiti it was rods such as this that were on the road.

I forgot to add the rod also has capped off Lakes Pipes and there is also a flame thrower kit that goes with the car which has been partially installed but never used.
