1978 Citroen 2CV Bamboo Verte

For your consideration is a 1978 Citroen 2cv.   I imported this car in 2004 after buying it from a older man in France.   He intended to give the car to his granddaughter for school and she refused.   I intended to restore this car. but truthfully I only drove it. and enjoyed every minute of it.   The car is the same as the day I bought it from Henri Mallett near Le Havre. France.  

It is a daily driver.   It has all of the dents. chips. dings and blemishes it had the day I got it.   This car has been in parades. homecomings. motorcycle rallies. tours and weddings.   It has about 50. 00 miles on it. does not smoke or use oil.   The tires are good. comes with the original jack and tire wrench.   The upholstery is original and was special I believe. for this year.   I have found one other picture of this interior on the internet.   The Polyester fabric is mostly good except where there are small 1/8" holes on the driver seat from Henri 's cigarette burns.   The tiny holes do not distract.   The rear seat has some terrible sun damage to the top of the seat as shown in the pictures.   The car has some dents in the doors and I have tried to show them in the pictures.   The driver side door around the handle is pushed in.   The passenger side has small dents also.   These could be possibly fixed by a paintless dent repair person.   Henri had the fenders repainted before sending it to me.   The fenders are a little brighter than the body of the car.  Please consider that this car has had little attention to the body over the past 35 years.  The car has the 625 cc motor.

I have some new front mud flats that you could install.  There is a hood blanket that goes on the inside of the hood to keep the noise down.   It is not there and I do not have a new one.   There is a small one inch button that goes on the windshield washer plunger shaft on the dash. that is missing. The green vinyl top is showing some discoloration where the metal frame comes in contact with the vinyl.   The vinyl has turned a greenish blue.   I have tried to show this in the pictures.  

The car is licensed in  South Dakota.   It is truly a 1978 vehicle.  I was told by the people in France that the 1978 Bamboo Vert (Bamboo Green) 2cv was the car of the year at the Paris Auto Show.   I have never been able to prove it.  The documents have not been forged. as some do. to get the car into the states.  The speedometer shows kilometers not miles.  

This car loves to cruise all day at about 35 to 40 mph. I have taken the car to over 50 mph.     It has a four speed transmission.   The tires are a mix of Firestone and another French brand.   All have good tread.

I have some spare parts for the seats. fenders and even a used distributor that will go along.   The owners manual is included (in French) as well as large book on how the restore your 2cv written in English.

This car is not restored but it is very restorable.  Everything is there except the parts mentioned above.   I decided after first driving it that I had too much fun driving and showing off the car to want to take it out of circulation for a restoration.   It normally takes me 20 mins to buy gas for the car.   People love to come and look at this "duck". as the Germans call it.
