1950 Mercury Club Coupe

This 1950 Mercury Club Coupe received a no-expense-spared 10+ year restoration. Fully documented with photographs and receipts. It is certainly one of the finest available in the world today.

Exterior: Starting with a solid original car. the body was removed from the frame and stripped. It was painted in a correct Royal Bronze Maroon metallic base/clear polyurethane finish giving it a beautiful. deep shine. Dash and interior trim are correct original colors. All chrome and stainless were removed. polished and re-plated. The grille is spectacular. The chassis was completely refinished and lowered 2-1/2" with new leaf springs in the rear. Fitted with new Coker wide whitewall radial tires.

Engine: Original Mercury 255 cubic inch V-8 was completely rebuilt. Bored to . 040 over standard. Magnafluxed and balanced. Isky 77B cam. #425 Offenhauser heads and Mallory distributor. Dual Flowmaster exhaust coupled with Fenton headers. Super smooth and quiet. but with a "throaty" exhaust when you want. New 3. 78:1 rear end mated to the rebuilt Mercury 3-speed manual transmission WITH OVERDRIVE makes this a 75 mph highway cruiser. The radiator was re-cored with an extra row of fins added for better-than-original cooling capacity. Electrical: Converted to 12 volts for easy starting. hot or cold. Step-down transformer to use original gauges. New wiring harness throughout.

Interior: Reupholstered at a cost of $6000+ in correct LeBaron-Bonney wool broadcloth and Hirsch hogshair carpeting (including the trunk. ) All interior trim replated and is gorgeous. Mercury Radio and Heater/Defroster. All glass and seals replaced. Correct Mercury Foglights and 1951 fenderskirts.

This is a stunning 1950 Mercury Coupe that retains a stock appearance yet is mildly customized mechanically and is ready for show or go. Please see the video and look closely at the photos. It looks even better in-person. Mileage showing is that since restoration. A realistc reserve has been placed on this car. in keeping with its rarity and quality. Please bid accordingly.
