I purchased this to use as a daily driver. it is not a trailer queen. but considering the money I put into this car it should be. A complete frame on restoration/repair. I never planed on doing this. One of my workers said I should just of bought some flat black that was the color it came with when I purchased it and sprayed over the paint chips. It would of saved me $19. 00. 00 +  I just could not stop. I rebuilt this car.
1950 Ford Convertible with working top. like new 302 with a new  Edelbrock 4bbl carburetor with electric choke.  V8 with dual exhaust.  standard transmission. new clutch.  new Diamond Black tires. new radiator  and rack and pinion power steering. electric trunk.  all new top & door seals (rubber) original type interior. complete on frame restoration in 2012 and have photos. ($15. 00. 00)  lowered 2" in rear. fender skirts and Caddy hub caps. Chrome excellent and just had the parking light housings re plated.  Runs and drives perfectly. All gauges converted to 12 volt. New wiring throughout from Tyree Harris.  NuPort Engineering  Electric windshield wipers.  AM/FM/CD new radio. The car came from Riverside California and was painted a suede(flat) black. After a few months in this cold climate the paint started to bubble up and chip off. I was very upset.
I suspected that whoever painted it did not rub it down and clean it with prep sol. I sanded it to bare metal and repaired all the prior repair panels that were not put in as I would of done it. I do not use sheet metal screws. We found no rust at all but the floors had been replaced. The cowl is in perfect condition as this is a real problem area for these cars. I removed the windshield and gasket to check for any rust and found none. Truly amazing. I coated all areas prone to rust with POR13.
The trim around the outside windshield on the car had a lot of dents in it. I found a complete windshield trim at AACA Charlotte. The center stainless steel divider had a hole in it and I can't figure out how that happened. looked like a 22. I found one of those at Hershey.  Try to find those items. Impossible!  The center pin that latches the top was missing and the end pins were both left. I had a center and a right pin to fix that so the top latches. Try to find those!
The clutch rod that works the clutch underneath was jury rigged when they installed the motor and they welded a piece on it to make it function. I did not like that and being a old certified welder I know when you heat this rod if it is not cooled correctly. (Oil bath) it becomes very brittle.  So I located a new clutch rod and installed it correctly. It was a accident waiting to happen.
Everything on the stock front end has been replaced with new parts. like king pins. ( they do not make these anymore so I made them from D2 Steel. ) the Ball joints are new also. These are made but the King Pins they sell do not fit right.
Both interior sun visors were missing and I found the brackets at Dennis Carpenter and had Lebaron Bonney make the visors.    I purchased a new windshield and new gasket and installed it and did a water test. Does not leak.
Spent 3 months board sanding this car. and three months doing the body work. It has no rust.  Base Clear PPG
All the stainless has been polished and the stainless steel piece on the door's came from a 1950 Australian  Ford UTE.  The chrome piece on the glove box came from a 1950 Ford Meteor. from Canada.  A real find. as they are very rare.  I found it at a flea market and he knew what it was worth. nbsp;then I sent it to be re-plated. All the grill parts are NOS as I purchased them at Hershey last year. They are very presentable as are the bumpers. The center of the dash where the clock used to be now has a tach.  Nice touch.  New heater motor and it works.
Replaced 2 top castings with the one's I am manufacturing. Had custom built a center console and removed the Ford emblem from the old steering wheel and inserted it in the new console that has cup holders. Installed seat belts in the front. Have the correct top boot but was never installed. It came from a car I restored. It is black also.
Has turn signals that are manual. A buzzing sound tells you they are on. They work.

Could not build one for this. I know I have been restoring  these 1949. 1950. 1951 Convertibles for over 29 years. A basket case that is full of bondo and Michigan rust will cost you at least $12. 00. 00 then you will spend if done professionally another $65. 00. 00++ to finish it off. More if you want a quality restoration.  I also make all the castings for these tops. .
I drive this car as does my Wife on a regular basis. and it is very dependable. It is a fun car to drive. And has that great 50's sound.
