1965 Sunbeam Tiger (STOA Certified) RESERVE LOWERED for sale

Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.15) based on 480 votes

Car is relisted at a much lower reserve.   FYI  - Previous auction went to $28. 00 and the car is too nice and rare to sell for that price.   I mention this because I just don't want to waste anyone's time.   *Interior Rear View mirror purchased on 8/8/13 from Sunbeam Specialties.   Old one was in really bad shape.

1965 Sunbeam Tiger (REAL TIGER) authenticated by the Sunbeam Tiger Owners Association (STOA) Certificate No. 0255.

This car runs and drives very well.   Engine is from a 1994 Mustang (302cid) that was rebuilt 200 miles ago.   This is a great driver.   Never sees rain or driven in winter since I have owned it.

California Black Plate Car (I have the original plate and copy of the California title. with the black plate number on it. from the owner in California I purchased the car from in 2004).   A California black plate car is a car that was purchased in the mid to late 1960's.   The plate was discontinued(they are selling them again now I believe) in the late 1960's.   This car had the same plate from when it was purchased in 1966 until I purchased it in 2004(I live in IL).   I am told this shows the history of the car.

For those who don't know this is referred to as the "Poor Man's Shelby Cobra".   Carol Shelby had a hand in building the Sunbeam Tiger.   He did not build them but he was involved in creating the concept.

I had the front end refreshed and tuned at Tiger Auto Service in Dayton. Ohio a few years ago.   I am told Doug Jennings is one of the best mechanics out there for Tigers.

I have the original "Certified Car Care. Warranty. Required Services Record" booklet in very good condition(besides that someone wrote on the cover).  Has original owners name and address in it.  The book states the car was purchased on 11/2/1966 from Peter Pan dealership in San Francisco.  Not much was logged in the booklet but the first couple of service appointments. Just really cool to have with the car. (see picture)

Body:  Car was originally white.   It was painted black before I purchased it around 2004.   Car is not perfect but it is a very nice car.   Chrome and exterior trim is in good shape for a 1965 car but not perfect.   Some tiny little bubbles behind the driver in front of the trunk.

Soft Top: Was replaced in 1999 but the frame of the top was not redone.   The weather stripping on the top is original (See Picture).   I have never used the top.   It will go up but is far from perfect.

Engine:  ORIGINAL AIR CLEANER.   302cid (5. 0HO) Ford Engine from a 1994 Mustang(only 60. 00 on motor before rebuilt) with a new Holley carb.   Rebuilt 200 miles ago.   Roughly 275hp.   Runs very strong and does not blow smoke.   I do not have the original engine.

Transmission:  Original Top Loader 4 speed manual.   Shifts very good.   Clutch was replaced 200 miles ago.

Brakes:  Original style.   New rotors and pads a 200 miles ago.   I have never touch the drums or shoes in the back.   Emergency brake works fine.   I EVEN HAVE THE PLASTIC COVER THAT GOES OVER THE E-BRAKE HANDE INSIDE THE CAR.   This is rare. they break easily.

Rear End:  No Issues

Suspension:  No Issues. New springs in front a few years ago.

Interior:  Original Seats. New Carpet. Original Dash. Original Steering Wheel(great shape!).   NEW INTERIOR REAR VIEW MIRROR FROM Sunbeam Specialties.

Gauges:  Tach and oil pressure are new (AutoMeter). Speedo needs to be rebuilt. all other gauges are original and work.   EVEN FUEL GAUGE WORKS CONNECTED TO FUEL CELL.

Some of the new parts:  Too much to list here.

*Interior Rear View mirror purchased on 8/8/13 from Sunbeam Specialties.   Old one was in really bad shape.

*Panasport Wheels (Tires are like new)

*Borla Mufflers (Sounds Good. Not Loud. Has a great sound)

*Pertronix Ignition System with new plug wires

*New Holley Carb

*Fire Shield Silver 8" Long Spark Plug Wire Boot Heat Protectors

*Griffin Aluminum Radiator

*New aftermarket Fuel Pump

*AN Steel Braided Fuel lines

*Fuel Cell (Original tanks were not safe so I replaced them) (See Picture)

*Power Cut Off Switch.   Located in Trunk and the switch faces down and is turned on/off by reaching under the car.   Poor mans security system.

*Optima Red Top Battery (See Picture)

*New Alternator

*Ceramic Coated Headers

*Rear Axle Traction Control “Halo”  (See Picture)

*AutoMeter Tachometer and Oil Pressure Gauges (See Picture)  Original gauges come with the car.

*Original Gas tanks with mounting brackets (see picture)

*Gas tank cross over pipe and hoses (see picture)

*Original gas line (see picture)

*Original radiator (see picture)

*Original tray that covered the battery in the trunk. Not perfect and won't fit because of fuel cell
