Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.25) based on 583 votes

Hi. This auction is for my 1963 MK1 Cortina GT 2-door which I have owned for the past twenty one years

I restored this car myself and built it to my own specification

The car was MOT'd again on the 26th July just over one week ago and has full tax too

It is black with red interior

Engine: GT engine block engine number 118E. Genuine Cosworth A2 camshaft. gas flowed & ported cylinder head & flat top hepolite pistons. nbsp;32mm choke version twin 40 DCOE Weber carburettors as per special equipment Lotus Cortinas and Lotus Elan. these are brand new having only been on the engine for 500 miles. The engine has covered approximately 30k miles having been used previously in an estate Cortina I was using as daily transport (i gained six points on my license at that time). The engine is fitted with a Lotus Cortina flywheel and 8" diaphragm clutch. the engine produces approximately 100bhp

Suspension: Adjustable Gaz shocks front struts built to fast road spec with lowered spring cups. adjustable leda rear shock abosrbers. fully poly bushed suspension. adjustable front track control arms currently running 1/4 degree negative camber. lowering blocks fitted to the rear. double anti-roll bar fitted to the front.

Wheels & Tyres: It is fitted with 5 1/2J Lotus Cortina 881A steel wheels with Yokohama S707 tyres with the exception of the spare which is a brand new unused Goodyear Eagle. they are all 175/70/13 size.

Brakes: Front P16 Girling calipers with rear 9" manual adjusting rears and a 7" Girling 2b servo. . 75 brake master cylinder. kunifer brake pipes throughout with stainless steel Goodridge flexible brake hoses

The car runs halogen H4 headlights which are battery wired to give excellent power. it is fully fused to protect from faults. it has a stainless steel exhaust and a Geoff Howe NOS free flow 4 into 2 into 1 manifold which was fitted 2-years ago. It has a genuine pre-airflow Ford radio fitted to the dashboard but has a hidden JVC radio CD player fitted too with four speaker. none of which you can see. It has a Webasto sunroof trimmed in black Jaguar XK8 fabric material and please if you are one of those people who think Webasto sunroofs mean you need to cut the roof from another perfectly good car to replace it then please buy yourself a different vehicle. I feel this car was always meant to wear it's Webasto roof and it wears it well. leave it alone!!

I don't believe this car has any faults which detract from it's usability. It was fitted with a new starter motor one week ago due to an intermittent starting problem which is now resolved and it had a new oil pump and screw-on filter fitted two weeks ago due to an oil leak issue which I was not able to cure with the old original canister filter set-up. The car was resprayed last year as it was last painted fourteen years previously and it had various minor blemishes which it had accumulated during that time.

The car will be available to view next weekend 10th & 11th August at the MK1 Cortina Owners Club national rally at Stratford on Avon at the Stratford racecourse

Luddington Road  Stratford-upon-Avon. Warwickshire CV37 9SE

I am not here for tyre kickers and wannabes. if you wish to view the vehicle it will be at Stratford next week. no private viewings. there will be no test drives available with the exception of the winner or the auction. if you are successful with your bid and you fell there is something fundamentally wrong with the way the car drives then we will agree to dissolve the agreement to buy. I don't expect this to happen. it might look and sound like your average GT but it certainly doesn't go and handle like your average GT; as a development engineer with Jaguar Land Rover for over twenty years I know this car I am confident that the chassis of this car will not disappoint. As a fifty year old car it belies it's age with it's set-up and it is an exceptional B-road vehicle.

The car has for many years been used as part of the Goodwood revival transport Corp. fleet and part of the glam cabs stand. it has again been invited back for 2013 but should the new owner not be interested in taking part then I am more than willing to take the car there and to drive and be involved in the event.

As you may have noticed it does not have a reserve price and so it is higher bid wins

Bank transfer or cash please before you drive away. however the can can be transported to any UK port if being exported
