This truck came off a farm in Colorado in the late ‘80s with the body and paint work having been done in Southern California along with a fair amount of rehabilitation work to the suspension and Flathead drive train. I got it in '05 and discovered some of that work was done very poorly. resulting in partial disassembly and rebuilding of all major components.
It now has a '58 283 for power that has been restored to factory specs with the exception of the 265 exhaust manifolds.
Carb is the correct Carter WCFB on the original cast iron intake.
Distributor is a Pertronix Flame Thrower.
Charging system utilizes a stock Chevy 12V generator and regulator to keep the nostalgic vibe complete. No troubles with either…they work just like they're supposed to and are very reliable. Wiring is taken care of with an EZ Wiring kit.
Cooling is taken care of with a Griffin aluminum radiator. shroud. and electric fan. The truck runs well within the factory limits at 175-180. The heater is a nicely restored vintage unit that will keep you very warm.
Transmission is a '66 Ford C-4 automatic mated to the engine with an adaptor supplied by Flat-o-Matic. Shifter is Lokar.
The rear end is a '36 ‘Banjo' that has been completely rebuilt by Hot Rod Works in Caldwell. Idaho with all new bearings. new 3:54 ring and pinion and modern slip in splined axles and has been converted to open drive with an HRW adaptor and split wishbone kit.
Front end is a 4” dropped forged Ford axle with disc brakes. Rear brakes are freshly done '40 Ford style drums.
Wheels are original Ford. Fronts are early center 15” with  BFG Advantage T/A 205/75 R-15  radials. Rears are early center 16” with  BFG Commercial 215/70 R-16 radials.
Both front and rear still ride on Ford springs with tube shocks.
Steering is stock ‘36Ford that has been rebuilt with new bearings and seals. Steering wheel is a '39 Ford banjo that has been nicely restored.
Most of the body and paint are as they were when the truck was painted in '91. I repainted the hood. grille shell. tailgate. running boards and front fenders. When I swapped in the 283 the firewall needed to be recessed a small amount and after filling random holes holes I painted with 2” checkerboards. After painting the checker the firewalll was covered with Urethane clear and carefully color sanded and polished.
Floorboards are original style wood that have been faced with engine turned aluminum and has removable thick insulated rubber mats to keep things quite  The transmission cover is hand made tin painted to match the body. pinstriped and coated with Urethane clear then sanded and polished.

The dash has been beautifully wood grained and the gauges are Stewart warner units incorporated into the original Ford gauge bodies to retain the factory bezels and curved glass fronts and to keep the dash in original unmodified condition.
The new radiator fills from under the hood So I filled and peaked the grille shell before repainting it. Not an easy modification. it was done with no filler…. it's all metal finished work.
Inside the bed is the original metal floor that is in very nice condition. I chose not to cut it out to be replaced with wood because of it's condition so I used a sheet of 3/4” Oak ply wood with stainless runners just layed in over the metal bed.
The body has never been removed from the frame and. as I said. the paint was applied over 25 years ago. It still looks great but has some minor well earned patina in the form of a few chips here and there. It shines as if it were a fresh paint job.
This is not a show car. It is a very nice. dependable and fun driver.
