JAGUAR XJ 12 1975 SERIES 2 {restorer or club car} for sale
Current customer rating: (407 votes ) based onAND is complete with the original plastic jaguar wallet and ALL the service books. wiring diagrams. service sheets. 8 track warranty booklet . etc a rare find 42 years on !!!
This series 2 JAGUAR XJ 12 L is very rare. as it is complete and unmolested I have owned this car for a few years now and have a passion for the very LAST of the METAL JAGUARS And to find one like this is a rare find. I also like many others will regret selling this as i have done many times in the past with classics but i have no where to store this and it is just not fair to the car
The last time i drove this car was over 2 years ago and it has just sat since this time. and is deteriorating so it needs a good home
the engine was very sweet the auto changed well and there were no axle or other nasty noises
but with time the rubbish fuel {i always use BP ultimate with a stabalizer}i am having to clean and rekit all 4 carbys and get rid of the stale fuel. then hopefully it will then run as well as it did
I AM SELLING THIS AS A RESTORER AS IT WILL BE SOLD UN REG AND AS IS
IT WILL STAND ANY INSPECTION AND YOU ARE WELCOME TO COME CHECK IT OUT FIRST
This i assume will be used as a club weekender. or the basis of a very simple restorer
FOR THE PEOPLE WHO DON"T UNDERSTAND THESE WORKS OF ART. THE JAGUAR XJ 12 L IS TIPPED BY THE "JAG BOYS" AS BEING THE NEXT FASTEST APPRECIATING JAGUAR AND THE BEST INVESTMENT
Out of the few sold in oz most ended up with those ugly yank excuses for an engine thrown in making them just plain rubbish
This car drives like a smooth turbine with unbelievable power delivery and there would not be many cars of the time that could compete with refinement of a Jaguar traditionally these old 12 cylinder cars would have lacked service and with the high fuel consumption they would be a great donor for an engine transplant. hence have become very rare in this condition
so the next question is whats wrong with it
although it looks fantastic in the pixs it could use a repaint
there is very little rust in the body
the leather in the rear seat back. the dash crash pad. inyl door tops and the veneer on the glove box lid have all been effected by the sun and need attention
mechanically {and these MAY get done before sale} the power steering pipe on the rack leaks fluid 1 center muffler has a hole {where it backfired last time i used it } i have a pair of stainless mufflers to match the axle pipes and rear stainless box's
the brakes need freeing off where its been standing
the air con is on the old gas and needs servicing
carby kits need fitting and fuel system cleaning
overall this is as stated a very rare classic and credit to its previous owners
The icing on the cake the wireless and 8 track fitted from new WORK!!! the tape is a terrible country job that will drive you mad in no time at all !!
RECORDED MILEAGE IS 58920 KLMS TRUTHFULLY I DON"T KNOW BUT BY CONDITION IM GUESSING 158920 VERY LOW FOR 42 YEARS
